Lupul [denpending on circumstances]
Colbourne
Lombardi

I still think this is the best middle ground I've seen... I'm biased for this proposal of course.
A swap of firsts two years from now doesn't seem likely or practical, imo. I'd do either Lupul, Lombardi, and an unconditional first, or Lupul, top-10 conditional first or it becomes a 2nd, and a B-prospect(preferably Blacker). Colborne probably makes mre sense for Toronto to keep, as they need al the potential top-6 centres they can get. Hopefully one works out for them.

No Lupul for you. Unless you're adding Kesler.

At least we're talking

That's in the neighborhood too although still a deviation from what I see. And I only listed a 2014 1st since I think it will be difficult to deal a 2013 1st because of either a shortened season or lottery. Also of course as part of the valuation but anyway.

Yeah it contingent on him NOT wanting to resign in Toronto. He may have to agree to term with the Nucks but that's where I am coming from.

I think a lot of people should be more interested in a futures package, considering Toronto doesnt have much in the way of "expendable top-6 talent".

It gives us bargaining chips in future transactions.

Acquiring a guy like Biggs/Ashton really make it easier if we were to (theoretically) move a guy like Jensen at the deadline for a top-rental.

Why not, and call me crazy, drop the first swap, and we get Gunnarsson? If Leafs fans are worried about not finishing better, they get to keep the first, the Canucks get a prospect, and fill nearly all of the holes we have?

Add Raymond or a second or something as compensation between the value of the firsts and Gunnarsson.

But...we shouldn't. And when was the last time that Gillis moved serious futures for a rental? We have Alberts, Higgins, Lapierre and Pahlsson as possible "rentals" and all either had time left on their contracts, resigned, or were absolutely expected to.

I'd do...

MacArthur + Kadri + Franson + 1st (top 10 protected)

for

Raymond + Luongo

I would want to swap MacA for a Frattin/Biggs/Ashton and i would be fine.

Also instead of top-10 protected why not make it 2013/2014 conditional Burkes choice?

I'd prefer the top-10 protected to either/or 2013/2014. 2013 1st is far more likely to contribute sooner. And I'd still prefer a top-6 winger be included unless we know for sure we can flip them for forward help.

Why wouldn't Gillis do a trade like that next off-season?

as I posted previously

Lupul UFA after this season as is Lombardi, Luongo gets the leafs into the playoff and maybe draffting as high as 20, say the nucks draft at 28--only an 8 spot swap.. so for Luongo the nucks might only have Colburne and a slightly higher draft pick come summer 2014--take out Lombardi and add Kadri

Hodgson, Schneider, Hansen, Sauve, Schroeder, Tanev, Lack (who's kind of broken out last year more then before)....I'm not saying it won't happen, but Jensen is something special in my eyes, I don't think he'll be traded for someone we don't expect to retain. Known quantities, as much as futures can be, were either marginal (see, well the three guys I mentioned) or for players on contract (Ballard).

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Kesler - Higgins
MacArthur - Lapierre - Hansen
Frattin - Malhotra - Kassian
(Weise)

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Garrison - Edler
Ballad - Franson
(Tanev, Alberts)

Schneider

As I've said in other posts:

Lupul contingent on resigning. [get a top six winger for multiple years]
Colbourne [get a b-level prospect, could be swapped for a different one depnding on who]
Lombardi [is a roll of the dice and a cap dump. Him expiring is a good thing]
1st [is a gamble but say Vancouver is 25 and Toronto 16 then what do you think the value is to move up? At least a second rounder worth of difference possibly more BUT Nuck's get a shot at a very good prospect of their choosing]

So I see three legit assets go to Vancouver this way.

Would you do Lu for Frattin, Franson + 1st (protected)? So take Raymond and Mac out?

Because Lupul is a UFA and it is more then likely the cap is going down--Don't see the nucks resiging him

Luongo to the leafs make them a playoff contender and that means they are draft in the 16+ range, nucks pick could be anywhere from 21 to 30. This is the 2014 draft we are talking about not the 13--so it could be a flip of say 20 to 25 by then

With that deal, leafs send their 1st in 2014 and canucks send their 2nd in 2014 and still take out Lombardi and add kadri

Hmmm... So you are saying:

Lupul
Kadri
1st [2014]
Colbourne

for

Lu
2nd [2014]

?

I'm sorry but I don't see it. To me I value that higher then what NYR got for Nash, but to each is own. If I was Burke I would pass.
