He could then take over Harrison's spot and we could again have two OLB's who need to be feared. Or could he play as a downhill MLB, where he can take over for Foote.

I have only seen Simon twice, as I thoroughly dislike OSU, but the times I have seen him, I'm not sure he has that explosion to be a 3-4 OLB in the NFL.

I dislike how OSU is the Steelers pipeline.
I would honestly put him at Woodley's spot. Put Worlids at Harrison's spot.

This is the only game film of Simon from this year. I really wish there was film of him against Wisconsin from this year when he played lights out and recorded 4 sacks.

Stoneburner is a WR, not a TE.

I don't like not having first rounder. We gotta have it. It's a good draft.
Hmmm, say we keep the 1st round pick.

1. Alec Ogletree (ILB, Georgia)
2. Jordan Poyer (CB, Oregon St)
3. John Simon (DE, Ohio State)
4. Shawn Williams (S, Georgia)
5. Justin Pugh (OT, Syracuse)
6. Jake Stoneburner (WR, Ohio State)

Ogletree is definitely the kind of LB we could really use.

This draft is loaded with defensive linemen especially in first round so I think we have some options in other positions like LB, corner or even safety. Hopefully, we get a steal like DeCastro last year.

Really? I thought Stoneburner weighs 245 according to OSU website. Unless he lost some weight, I doubt a team will use him as WR.

I like Ogletree. Very possible that he will be available when our pick is up.

Didn't Jake play TE, EOL? I swear he did. I pictured him as a TE, too.

Sorry to again interlope - more OSU talk here than on the Jackets' board. And I'm only an OSU fan via proximity and length of time...

All Ohio State talk is banned on this board. Go to the Blue Jackets board, you honky losers.

Not seriously. But Ohio State is pure evil and you should reconsider your evil ways.

In the games I've seen Ogletree, he would be a great fit next to Timmons at ILB.

As for Stoneburner, WR is his natural position. He does have speed as well for being 6'5 245.

The Pirates don't always spend money, but when they do, they do it poorly.

Basically throw a good chunk of change (8.5 per for 2 years) at a 30-year old catcher who is only a bit better than McKenry at this point.

Martin isn't great or anything but he's an improvement on Barajas, no question.

A live body would be better than Barajas. He was dead last in the entire league in WAR for catchers with at least 250 PA's last year.

Martin was essentially right in the middle of the pack among starters. Despite guys usually benefiting from going AL to the NL, I think Martin will be hurt by it since he's going from a hitter's park to bad park for right-handed hitters. It'll mitigate one of his positives on offense, decent power for a catcher. He's also going to be 30 before the season starts and catchers tend to just fall off a cliff offensively.

Yankees had no interest in bringing him back, as it's been reported they didn't even make him an offer.

The Yanks definitely wanted Martin back, but they put their focus on pitching first. Martin was, realistically, the only true starting catcher on the market. Napoli barely catches anymore (AL guy through and through) and Pierzynski is turning 36 and is a mental case. No one else available is better than AAA caliber.

Martin is overpaid for what he'll bring, but he honestly got less than I was expecting just because of the dearth of available catchers out there.

I assume the Yankees will end up swinging a trade for one now. At least Martin doesn't cost us any assets.

someone posted this over on Bucsdugout, and i thought it was pretty interesting:

http://www.hittrackeronline.com/deta...53&type=hitter

those are Martins home runs last year, you can over lay PNC and most would still be home runs. So it doesnt seem like his power would die much in Pitt.

Such graphs are rather misleading since they just take raw feet of HR's and don't consider stuff like altitude or how balls carry better in different parks.

For example, from 2001-2012, PNC Park has the second worst park factor for RHB's in MLB. It's just an extremely hard place to put up good numbers as a RHB.
