I'm glad there isn't a "drink when you hear 'Johnny Football' mentioned during a Sportscenter or College Football recap" drinking game.

Nobody would make it longer than 10 minutes.

Looks like the Steelers are likely to lose O-Line coach Sean Kugler to UTEP. Kugler went to school there and a lot of reports are saying he is the front runner for the HC job. This really sucks but that's what happens when you have good young assistants on your staff.

Unless the Steelers want to pay him like they did Butler.

Tommy Tuberville is leaving Texas Tech to go coach at Cincinnati, this is odd.

I hate how there is no loyalty to programs. That's one thing with Wanny. He was a great recruiter, horrible coach, and was loyal to Pitt.

Tommy Tuberville was only 20–17 at Texas Tech. Maybe he knew the writing was going to be on the wall sooner than later there and split for another job.

It really wouldn't be bad to take a QB in the first round ***IF*** someone fell and dropped to us. Let Ben groom him for awhile and we'd be okay if he goes out due to injury. That's a huge "if" someone falls to us, though.

But anyways - San Diego comes all the way over and gets a virtual 10am start. That's after a disappointing season and the fact their coach/GM are fired at the end. Knowing our luck, they will come out red hot. Everything is stacked up against them, and I have learned from years of watching sports that's never a good thing.

The Ravens have a pretty decent chance at losing to the Redskins. Pittsburgh can't afford to take the Chargers' woes for granted and assume they'll throw the towel in early.

I expect a close game. The Steelers seem to play to their opponents level most games; whether that's a good thing or bad thing.

As an heir to Roethlisberger? Absolutely not.

3rd-4th rounder for a back-up? Oh hells yeah.

Should have said this instead.

The one QB I do like, Mike Glennon (NC St) we would have no chance at later in the draft.

I was talking about a VERY specific scenario where a fallen top 5 player just so happens to dodge a ton of teams. Like an Aaron Rodgers type situation, ya know?

We need secondary help badly. That's first in line to me. Although the youngsters have stepped it up with the very subtle changes. I think playing physical at the line has helped a few players succeed.

We could use a young safety. I don't think we need a CB unless we lose Keenan Lewis to UFA.

I would be tempted to take a QB in round one if he were by far the best player left on the board like Aaron Rodgers was when he could have gone #1 and fell all the way to the 20's. If there's anything remotely close to the same value at another position then I'd take the other position though. I think ideally we'll draft a QB project in the 3rd or more likely 4th round but again depends what's on the board since we do have lots of needs in more pressing areas.

Congrats to Johnny Football BTW

Quarterbacks in draft are difficult to predict. We have seen some teams pick them way earlier than expected like Ponder, Tebow, Russell Wilson, etc. This year's QB crop is weak. I think some teams are looking to trade for Alex Smith and Matt Flynn in off-season.

If I were Steelers, I would look at Glennon and Dysart for mid-round pick.

Yeah, I agree that this QB crop looks weak. I guess my comment wasn't really meant for just this year but more of a strategy going into all future drafts. I just think we're at that point with Ben over 30 now that if an unbelievable value at QB is there then you have to for the first time in a long time consider taking the kid given Ben's age and injury history.

I made the comment about Manziel being the next Steelers QB, assuming he will eligible for the draft in 2-3 years, I wouldn't draft a QB this year but in 2-3 years? Nah still too early.
