The police refused to relase them in time for the game, it could be something serious.

Had it only been Lilja, my guess would have been "Malmö - Percy - Lilja" ... but now it is really tough to speculate...

yup, expressen says so.

Doesn't say anything if they are involved (man, I sure hope not).

Aftonbladet says the same thing, they are being questioned about the r a p e of a 22-year old girl. They are not suspects of the crime.

http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/sport/...601818,00.html

Of course this is AB, and they have a "tendency" to "jump the gun"

Dagens Nyheter (more reliable IMO) only says they are being questioned, and that the reason to "the questioning" is unknown.

Even though they are not suspected of anything in the legal sense of the term, I very much doubt that they would have been prohibited from playing, if they were merely being questioned as witnesses.

Yes, when the police take them in for questioning like this, a couple of hours before a quite big game it should have to be quite serious. Not primarly because they will miss the game but beacuse it becomes such a "high-profile" case and it will get such a spin in the media and the court of public opinion.

According to Aftonbladet

http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/sport/...601818,00.html

a decision whether or not they will be placed under arrest will be taken after the questioning. A senior policeman is however quoted as saying that he does not think that will happen.

"a decision whether or not they will be placed under arrest will be taken after the questioning. A senior policeman is however quoted as saying that he does not think that will happen."

This should mean that they are more then witnesses or? If they are only witnesses, they shouldnt even be considered to be placed under arrest. Something is very wrong here. Like a previous poster I dont think that the police took them in just to be witnesses. The players wanted to play the game first and then go to the police but the police refused it.

The three players have been released and are not suspects according to the police.

If they are just witnesses then I seriously question the police judgement of hanging out three fairly well known guys like this. If they are suspect of anything you would still think that the police could conduct their business a little more candidly and at least wait until after the game. It's not like these guys are going anywhere anyway.

Without knowing anything more of this case than what has been reported in the media, it looks to me as though some allegation were made against at least one of them - this being the reason for questioning them during the game - but that a subsequent investigation either found a lack of evidence or that the allegations were totally unfounded - this being the reason for the players being released.

I agree with this.

The police said they are not suspects, but all that means is that they are not officially suspects YET.

A good alibi would counter any unsubstantiated claims of the victim.
