Best coach since 04-05 lock-out?

I'll post a poll after we determine what coaches were the best.
Hopefully we get more then 5 so we can have a great debate.

Expecting a lot of Tippett and Babcock, but I would go with Trotz. The fact that he hasn't won a Jack Adams is criminal in my mind.

Barry Trotz. No one has done more, with less, then Trotz has over the years. If teams can have franchise players, Trotz is certainly a franchise coach.

Its blown my mind! i completely agree with you, he's made players that were late draft picks into stars, he's made Nashville what it is today.

Claude Julien should be on the list.

John Tortorella
Peter Laviolette

Are two good cases.

I would have so many other coaches (Totorella, Laviolette, Julien to name a few) before Sutter.

The playoffs of course are a different story.

Jacques Lemaire did more with less in MN.

Do you think Sutter was the coach in Calgary in 03/04?

Anyone heard of Alain Vigneault? Certainly has to be up there with the regular season all star coaches.

Add Randy Carlyle, he has one of the best postseason records post lockout. His first half of the season record leaves a bit to be desired though.

Edit: Dan Byslma should be an option also. Trotz had some great teams in Nashville in 05-06 and 06-07 that didn't even make it out of the first round. He's yet to do anything significant when it counts.

Tippett. Every year they're projected to be competing for the 1st overall pick, and then they go and make the playoffs

Trotz gets big props for what he's been able to do with that Nashville hockey team.

Winning 2 playoff rounds in 7 years isn't the best in my books.

Babcock. Maybe homer vote.

HM: to Tippett. What he's done is amazing.

Tippett. His teams haven't been much better than Trotz's if at all, and yet he continues to get them into the playoffs (in some cases deep into the playoffs).

Is there a particular reason why the poll is limited to these 5 coaches?

Regardless, I'd take Trotz either way.

Accidentally clicked on Hitchcock, but Mike Babcock is a one of the best coaches in the league year in and year out.

Trotz and Tippett.
Those coaches can lead a bottom 5 team into playoffs each year or so.

I don't think Darryl Sutter should be a part of this, considering he's only coached 2 seasons since the lockout.
