Good to see the signing official. Gotta say I had a bit of an irrational worry that he would fail his physical so I'm happy he didn't

Again...this wasn't my point. My simple point was that a GM having a private conversation with a player doesn't mean a thing if AA can improve the team by moving JPA.

If he talked to him it means he's not shopping him but if a deal that makes us better is open, the only conversation that means a damn thing will be AA telling JPA where his new home is.

By pitching help, they mean Morrow or prospects (Sanchez, Synder).

Agreed.

AA and BB are two totally different GMs, Burke is more media-friendly, AA keeps things quiet and just surprises everyone.

I agree, we need to trade Buck for anyone with value. We can't afford to deal either Arencibia or D'Arnaud, it would seriously set us back. Assuming Lind and Buck get traded, I'd go with EE at 1B, JPA starting at C, TDA playing DH while being able to play C or 1B every now and again, and Wilson as our backup catcher, he's great defensively imo.

We just need to figure out whom we can package Lind and Buck for, it would also help us reach the 40-man limit.
Hosmer won't be dealt now.. Not after having a down year, that would be horrible asset management. They're better of holding on to him.

Lind + Buck for Justin Morneau

Well, now that things are finalized, can we put all the paranoia to rest?

with google news, that is the only reference i can find on the entire interwebs of blue jays and 8.5 million.
If true, that's exceptional. Alex Anthopoulos is a master negotiator of the highest order.

That's also what I was thinking, a sophomore slump, but the rumors are still suggesting they're shopping him, maybe something's there. I doubt the Twins take that, they already have Doumit to backup Mauer

I hope the Jays aren't done yet, if they're already spending this much, might as well go all out and make sure the money isn't spent on a team that doesn't go all the way.

They might as well deal Morneau so they can put Mauer at first full time.

Rumours and logic have the Twins wanting to move Mauer to first.

Mauer has seen a lot more 1B and DH recently amidst health concerns. As good as he is behind the plate, they're more concerned about keeping his bat in the lineup.

Lind + Buck + pitching prospect

C - Doumit, Buck, Mauer
1B - Mauer, Lind, Doumit
DH - Lind, Mauer Doumit

Reyes
Cabrera
Bautista
Encarnacion/Morneau
Morneau/Encarnacion
Lawrie
Rasmus
Bonifacio/Izturis

Listening to people on the radio and even some on here you'd think JPA was some sort of young star catcher or something.

As awful as Buck was last season he posted a WAR marginally worse then JPA.

Really that good? I will start to follow the Jays once the season starts up again.

Was a big fan of the Jays back then during the Delgado era.

Colby and Lind for Morneau?

I would seriously debate giving up Lind for Morneau let alone Colby too. Don't get caught up in the name. This isn't 2006 anymore. Morneau hasn't been healthy enough to be counted on to produce regularly for 3 seasons now.

He also doesn't play centrefield. Colby is as entrenched at this point as anyone else on the roster. He's going to be given the chance to really breakout this year with this lineup.
