Meeting Bobby Hull!

(Accidentally posted this in the Main)

A buddy of mine and I got to attend the Bobby Hull event at Hattricks this past Saturday Night. I acquired the tickets by calling into Hustler and Lawless one night and loudly complaining about the lockout and having to spend my evenings curling and reading about basketball on TSN instead of watching hockey. Hustler felt bad for me and hooked me up with a pair of tickets to this event, if only to keep me from stepping off the ledge for a little longer.

Anyway, the scene was pretty casual as we sat and listened to Bobby regale us with stories of professional hockey from well before when I was alive. Many of the guys he mentioned I wasn't familiar with, but the stories about Ulf Nilsson and Anders Hedberg as well as some of the other classic jets were pretty cool.

His greatest hockey memory was the night he made Brett Hull. lol.

Another thing he talked about was beating the Soviet National team who at the time, had not been beat by a club team. He also mentioned that his line scored all 5 points!

I submitted a question to him asking who was the toughest player he ever played against, and the first guy he said was a Mr. Gordon Howe . He also mentioned John Ferguson, Ted Greene and one or two others.

We went to get our picture taken with him (See above) and we asked him what he thought of the lockout. He said he wasn't supposed to talk about it...but I WILL admit he mentioned something along the lines of "Blankiting dumb blanks. Blank"

It was awesome.

I'd imagine the current players have little sympathy from the older generation given how relatively little they played for, even when adjusted to today's dollar value.

Or was he talking about both sides. That works too.

The man was a bit of a legendary ladies man back in the day. There were a ton of stories going around about him back in the 70's when he played here, I'm sure he related some pretty good ones last Saturday.
Bet he's glad there was no such thing as the Internet and Twitter back in his day

Like the one where he said he never went to bed alone until he was married

I swear I'm not trying to be "that guy", but my Grandfather and Bobby Hull are very good friends. They used to go to cattle shows together, and Bobby would trust my grandfather to take care of his cattle a lot of the time. So I can relate, he's a very cool guy! I've got a box full of autographs from bobby Hull on anything from napkins to McDonalds hockey cards..

Just had to share that! Cool story dude, Cheers!
