Oh, wait...oh, this is too much...

I'm sorry Jason, I guess the Oilers wanting you to have a heart larger than a field mouse was "expecting the world"...our bad.

Funny thing is, he has a good chance to make that team...they really are wafer thin down the middle and he'll never be the team's worst defensive player as long as Kovalchuk is around. This could be his big break.

Yeah Digger. I mean, the guy was the 4th overall pick. I guess the Oil put too much pressure on him.

That quote right there tells me he still doesn't get it and probably never will.

Actually, I think that quote means he has finally gotten it.

The 4th overall pick is a big thing, and the Oilers waiting for him to come up and help the team (which was very bad at that time), was probably a lot of pressure.

That being said, his I didn't know how hard I needed to work, is at the very least honest, and was his biggest downfall.

Yeah, but from what I remember, the Oilers were more than happy to bring him along slowly. At no time do I remember him being rushed in to any role, nor do I remember anyone expecting him to be the saviour of the organization.

If he got it I would expect him to say something along the lines of "I'm going to try my hardest to earn a spot in Atlanta" and not... "They said they were going to give me every opportunity to make the club"

For all the grief I give him, you very well could be right...Sather was never known to handle young prospects with the greatest of delicacy. Maybe he HAS gotten it through his thick head what he needs to do, and at the tender age of 27 he's finally grown up.

Thing is...we've heard these speeches before from him, and nothing changed on the ice. Talk is cheap, action not so much.
