Leafs take the lead 3 minutes into the game on a goal by David Ling on a beautiful pass from Wellwood.

2-0. Druken from Wellwood and Ling on the PP.

Colaiacovo had a fight with Jimmy Roy.

Edit: D'Amour tunes Chanse Fitzpatrick in a fight as retribution for Manitoba going after some Leaf players.

WOW, Wellwood must be good, scoring 2 points on a single goal
How did that fight turn out?

Haha, I meant Ling. Wellwood's hot but not that hot.

As for the fight, Roy fights a lot more than Colaiacovo does, but apparently Cola did alright for himself.

Josh Green scored for Manitoba to make it 2-1.

But Wellwood scored 5 minutes later to regain the two goal lead. Ling caused the turnover with a huge hit on Tomas Mojzis and Druken fed the puck to Wellwood.

24 points in his last 14 games too.

Nathan Barrett has made it 4-1. Nice to see him starting to score a bit. Williams and White get the helpers.

As fun as it is to gloat that our prospect is doing better than a Habs prospect, why are we comparing the two? Did a Habs fan make the claim that Higgins is a better scorer then Wellwood or something?

Game over. It was a great game if you're a Leaf fan.

Three Stars (with announcers comments)

1. Kyle Wellwood (It's a given around these parts. Terrific game and he's a pleasure to watch. He's magical. It would be worth the price of admission just to come to the game and only focus on him for his shifts. I know he was a fan of Wayne Gretzky growing up, but you've got to be more than just a fan to do the things Wellwood does on the ice)

2. JF Racine (Responded to getting hooked last night with a great performace)

3. Harold Druken (On his game right from the get-go. Played with some passion)

Grub Club Hardest Working Player of the Game: Robbie Palahnuk (off the schnide with his first point of the season)

Long Story .. Top 50 prospects came out .. Higgins was on the list ..

Asked the question what makes a good prospects in a comparison Welly to Higgins..

Welly got no respect and leaf Fans took a beating in fact ..

Like from time to time .. Give Welly a little Free Advertising ..

I have not seen a player like him in a long time .. I am cheering Welly puts on the REAL Leaf Jersey ..because that will be the day that I will remind doubters that leaf Fans saw something that other teams Fans just refuse to ..

Bottom line .. Leafs Fans got to love Welly ..

Here is the Thread that I was talking about : http://www.hfboards.com/showthread.p...light=wellwood

Brendan McCarthy made the comment that Wellwood still has a shot at the AHL scoring title.

It's obviously a huge longshot as Wellwood has 62 points and Spezza has 74. But Spezza has cooled off recently (by his standards anyway). Today Binghamton scored 7 goals and Spezza didn't have a point.

On a side note, the Barrett-Stajan-Williams line played a good game tonight. Hopefully Shedden keeps them together. They could be the 2nd line St. John's is looking for.

I know it doesn't necessarily mean he'll be successful in the NHL, but you gotta love Wellwood lately.

24 points in 14 games. Nice.

Anybody think he'll make the Leafs when hockey returns?

Just goes to show that Doug Shedden reads this board .. and few days ago Leaf Fans said Stajan and Williams would make sense and make a good line

and a few days later BANG .. Williams has a great game with lots of scoring chances playing with Stajan ..

Williams 6 shots on net .. 1 assist on a nice pass to Barrett and +1 on the night ..

On another Brett Englehardt and his offense recently has caught my attention ..

If by some miracle hockey started this year, Wellwood would have a shot at the team. Depends how the lineup fills out.

I would still have Stajan on the big team before Wellwood only because I don't believe any player (especially a young one like Stajan) should lose their spot on the team because of the lockout.

But next year, Wellwood damn well better have a spot waiting for him. They have to give him a legitimate shot.

Not only did Wellwood have 3 points tonight, but before the game, the announcers were talking about how good of a defensive player he's developed into. They said his improvement on defense from last year to this year is "scary".

He sure isn't hurting his NHL chances with his on ice performance thats for sure ..

As far as I am concerned I couldn't be happier for him if he made it ..

but this might sound strange .. But with the Baby leafs moving to Toronto next season, and the team needing to set up a fan base .. Welly would sell out the building with fans coming to see him ..

and then because of the lockout .. who knows when NHL Hockey will be back ..

I am still waiting for the Jeremy Williams .. Kyle Wellwood .. Jeff Carter . Line next year ..

That might even get me to relocate to Toronto just to watch the AHL next season ..

Yup, I agree. Stajan and Williams together just makes sense.

I agree with Engelhardt too. It's been a while since they were on TV, but last time they were I was impressed with him. He's a big guy who can be tough to move and he's got great goal scoring hands- especially in close to the net.
