Christmas hockey is being discussed according to Damion Cox. If I am thinking correctly they have moved passed the CBA part of the negotiations and are now seeing when they games can be played. A podium is up for a press conference, this seems to actually be happening. Bring back the damn NHL please.
-Also Arron Ward says one major sticking point is the NHL does not want to honor full amount on existing contracts.
That is lame. I wonder how they would even work that out (i.e. all contracts longer than X years are cut short, or they can be if you want, etc.).
-Another major sticking point is the length of the CBA, NHL wants 10 and it is being said that NHLPA doesn't want one that long. Which I don't really understand.
I get that. The NHL is not NFL or MLB. There is still uncertainty. If they sign a ten year deal and the sport doesn't do well a few years down the road or does much bettter a few years down the road, the owners don't want to be roped into something for another five years or whatever if it doesn't benefit them. I just hope that there isn't a lockout at the end of every CBA regardless of the length.
