Updated ratings

I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that some of the Leaf ratings on the HF page changed. Wellwood is now rated 7.5 and Colaiacovo is now rated 8.5.

These ratings are still uselessly pathetic.

Whoa, don't get ahead of yourself.

To do that, we'd have to pass Tampa and their powerhouse collection of prospects.

Nevermind that their 3rd ranked prospect was just traded for our 11th ranked prospect in the WHL.

And Vancouver... don't forget about the Canucks and their tremendous group of super prospects.

Can someone tell me how Colaiacovo (supposebly one of the safest prospects around..) has a "C" beside his name now? Ridiculous if it's based on his fluke injuries. Pathetic.

Its always been my preferance to do my own rating of prospects from seeing them in action.Anyone elses opinion is simply that, their opinion. Many if not most are penned without seeing the players they rate more than 2 or 3 times if at all.
Dont worry about it too much.
Ask a 100 people,get a 100 differing opinions.

Glad to see Robbie Earl finally getting some respect though.

Although Colaiacovo a C, Earl a B?

He doesn't appear on the top 20 NCAA prospects list, however.

I wonder where he ranks?

Did Welly's grade rise because of his Fastest Skating result in yesterdays Skill Competition ??

That's true, he should probably be at least a B. But having his number ranking raise to 8.5 should offset that.

The letter/number system is okay, but it's open to a lot of individual interpretation. Depends a lot on how you want to balance the two.

Based on all the speculation of bad ice, someone slipped, faulty clocks or whatever/etc, how long before someone tells us this was a typo ?

Colaiacovo used to be 8A and Wellwood use to be 7C. I do not know by whom or why they were changed. I just noticed it.

Is it my imagination or was Earl definitely not a 7B before?

Not sure I agree with that, a 7 is decent... but it seems a little too much to give him a B already if he gets a 7.
That pretty much puts his downside as a 4'th liner, I'm quite pleased with him but I don't see he's at all a guaranteed NHL'er as yet.

I also thing an 8B is more suited to Cola then 8.5C.

Hopefully our editor pops by and gives us his thoughts.

I don't believe we have one .. To be honest .. I know Brock Otten has written reports for HF on behalf of the Leafs before.
