Pubs or Clubs?

What's your choice?

We have clubs near us, Mayhem and Chameleon, think there's one called Sun Rooms too but basically around here it's normally where you go if you want to catch a disease and being honest, it's not my scene as i don't like loud music and I feel uncomfortable there. Pubs on the other hand I feel fine in. I'm more than happy to go a pub and drink there because you normally talk to your friends/people your with a lot and I feel a lot more "me" there.

You?

Pubs

Can't watch the hockey game at the club

Although one could argue you couldn't really watch the hockey game at the pub here in America LOL

Previous threads include ones that discuss weather anyone actually likes clubs and where people prefer to go for their nightlife experience.

Besides, this has a poll and polls are cool.

The weird thing is though that because I don't go to clubs I often feel an "outsider" or not normal so to speak as my friends go to clubs. Not all of them mind, the ones I know and normally hang out with don't go to clubs.

Never been in either one, but I'd imagine that I would enjoy a pub more with the more relaxing atmosphere.

Pubs. Better food, better atmosphere and you can watch the game too.

Pubs are always a great time. Clubs have the potential to be an amazing time, but more often than not are lousy.

Pubs AINEC.

Never got into the club scene. Not a big fan of having to scream to have a conversation, not to mention half the time you still don't know what they said... but just pretend like you do, because you don't want to ask them to repeat themselves for the 7th time.

This is another one of my positive for pubs.

At a pub there's more regulars and you may well spark conversation up with them and become friends whereas if you go to a club you often go to get drunk and forget the night the next morning. I'd prefer to go to a pub if I was trying to pick a girl up as well, a lot of the girls that go to the clubs near where I live only go for a "quick fix" and are the kind who move from one to another in weeks. Pubs are more sophisticated.

Why even ask this question on HF? Whenever the topic of clubs comes up people fall over themselves to broadcast how much they hate them.

I prefer pubs myself. Not into dancing or live music, so clubbing offers little appeal.

Those who frequent hockey forums are not generally the club-going type. Pubs for me.

Option 3 I guess. Drinking with buddies at their place or hanging out at mine are much more enjoyable options to me.

Clubs are terrible places for terrible people.

Time and a place for everything. Voted pub but a lot of the responses in here don't make sense. "Can't watch the game at the club"...well NSS. A club is a place you go to not watch sports. For that matter, actually watching games at a pub/bar etc. in America is a pretty tall task in itself.

Pub to talk with friends and maybe run into a few unexpectedly. Club to party and get/watch others get sloppy.

Edit: My feelings on clubs comes with the caveat that I never went to them back in the States but I get the impression they're a bit different here.

Really? I never have trouble getting the channel switched if the game isn't on already.

Depends. Am I bringing a girl with me? If so, where ever she will have the most fun. If not, the pub wins. I'm not a club guy.

I go to clubs when there is a DJ playing that I know, and I have an amazing time. If you are deeply into the dance music scene you'll know know what to expect from a crowd at certain shows. From my experience in Vancouver: The regular night club that plays top 40 music attracts a lot of dick heads and just all around stupid people. Dubstep shows attract a lot of 19 year olds that wear spirit hoods and rave stuff, but there will still be nice neo-hippies. Jungle and Breakbeat shows will have an older, knowledgeable crowd with a lot of nice people. House and Trance shows always attract a huge crowd of Asian people who generally aren't friendly. Hip-hops shows seem to always have rich people present for some reason. Edit: I haven't been to that many hip-hop shows though.
