It's amazing how much larger a 32" TV looks when positioned right next to a 21" monitor and two feet away from where I'm sitting.

I'm going to get eye cancer or something from this set-up.

What sort of TV did you get? I'm in the market for one - probably time to upgrade from the old box set. Looking for something in the 30"-39" range.

55" LED 1080p 3D whatever from LG.

I wanted a plasma screen, but my apartment gets way too much light for one.

27 inches seems way too big for a computer screen

If you like reading a ton, then yes. The Robert Jordan created such an large, detailed world that each the first 8 books or so widened the scope of the story to the point where it become really unwieldy for a couple books in the middle ... Many readers found the middle two or three books to be a bit of a chore, but I think the payoff is worth it.

The good news is that the series is finally done and that a person who likes to read for a couple hours each day can probably power through this series in half a year and still have a bit of a social life. The bad news is that, yeah, even a dedicated reader is going to be occupied by these for at least half a year.

A lot of libraries have these. I'd borrow the first couple books and see if you like 'em. If you like how it starts, I suggest you not give up in the one or two books in the middle of the series that everything just slows down so much ... think of it as climbing a hill and that the story slows to a crawl just before it reaches the summit and starts speeding up for an downhill ride without brakes.

Yeah hopefully I'll have my own HD TV again by October.

Going from a standard definition TV to an HDTV back to a standard definition here in my bedroom sucks.

Try having a 20" standard definition TV that's (presumably) 10-15 years old. Or if not that old in reality per se, it sure looks like it is.

Screen's so small and the picture quality is awful. At least it works OK for gaming but I'll be damned if I have to watch hockey on this thing.

Sure my woman said I can use the big 55" HD TV in our living room, but I know I'll still feel bad and feel like a TV hog if some nights I'll wanna watch 3-4 games because of Centre Ice.

Wicked. There's absolutely no going back from that.

From what I gather, LED is definitely the way to go. Anyone think otherwise?

Plasma for me all the way. The black levels are just so much deeper and richer. The only reason I wouldn't go plasma is if my house layout made it unavoidable to have direct sunlight shining on it.

LED has improved a lot over the past couple years...but so has plasma. Plasma's black levels definitely can't be matched and the burn-in and lifespan problems that plagued them are a thing of the past now. The problem with plasma screens is that you basically have to have a man cave for them to be utilized properly as sunlight ruins everything. I'm in a studio where the only place I could put this TV was in the direct line of 2 windows that face the sun all day.

The worst thing about that was that they had an amazing plasma that was the same size as mine for about $300 less than the one I bought because it was opened and didn't have the remote or instructions (normal price $1,700). I'm not going to ***** about this baby in my tiny apartment, but the money saved would have been nice.

I hear ya man. I've been in the same boat. My poor liver

Can't wait to crack open my bottle of Crown Royal on Saturday to celebrate the return of the Pens though.

Or, I'll be opening it due to being depressed about the game being blacked out on my TV.

Are any of you heading to Hershey, PA for the AHL WC this weekend? I'm selfishly hoping none of Bennett, Despres, Dumoulin, or etc make the Pens NHL roster.

Hockey is like a girlfriend who's been living overseas for a few months and now you're due to be together with her again. It might be strange at first, but you really need her back and you know you'll work through the awkwardness.

Funny, I got a 32" television with computer hookups in the back only a few weeks ago and made it my moniter.

On another note, finally saw a trailer for a chick movie that I not only can sit through without cringing but still will likely get me laid after. I had to sit through twilight a few years back, the only saving grace was I knew I was getting some after that, even if she did call me the dude's name. This one actually looks funny enough to sit through AND get the fringe benefits after:

My girlfriend has this one on her list, and for once I was kind of excited for it.

Kind of reminds me of Kick Ass and Quentin Tarantino movies in its sense of humor. At least from that one trailer. Hopefully it can keep it up during the actual movie.
