2013 Mock Draft (formerly HockeySense)

I figured I'd throw out my two cents on this years draft since I haven't been on these boards in a while and it's just one of those nights that i don't feel like doing much other than looking over hockey stuff, so here goes. (only lottery teams for now)

1. Colorado - D - Seth Jones -

2. Florida - F - Nathan MacKinnon

3. Tampa - F - Jonathan Drouin

4. Nashville - F - Alexander Barkov

5. Carolina - F -Valeri Nichushkin

6. Calgary - F - Hunter Shinkaruk

7. Edmonton - D - Darnell Nurse

8. Buffalo - F - Sean Monahan

9. New Jersey - G - Zach Fucale

10. Dallas - F - Elias Lindholm

11. Philadelphia - D - Rasmus Ristolainen

12. Phoenix - F - Anthony Mantha

13. Winnipeg - F - Kerby Rychel

14. Columbus - F - Ryan Hartman

A lot could change from now til the draft with the U18 tourney and Mem Cup being played, but this is my assessment based on best player available and team needs for the lottery picks. I'm sure some may not like some of the picks, but I enjoy reading critics either way. Anddd... Goooo!

He's a forward. Other than that , the top-10 look good. I doubt Mantha goes in the top 15 though and could see Pulock in the 8-15 range. Hartman could be very high on some team's charts as well , wouldn't be surprised to see him taken early. Decent list.

Isn't that a bit of a reach by NJ?

Shinkaruk at 6 is bad. Flames wont pass up the opportunity to land a 1C in Monahan or Lindholm.

Would Oilers draft a defenseman? nope, they won't.

I like Shinkaruk, maybe more than most, but Calgary really needs a center and Sean Monahan would be a better and more prudent pick for them there.

Nurse at 7 for Edmonton would be perfect for them.

If the Oilers pick Nurse they better leave him down in the juniors for a year though, no sense in rushing him.

The Prudential Center will riot if Lou picks Fucale at #10... Let alone skip on Lindholm.

Shinkaruk is great but if Lindholm or Monahan are there it's an easy choice for the Flamers.

Nichushkin is not a defenceman and Ristolainen is not a forward.

Seriously? Please elaborate as I see Fucale as the best goalie prospect since Price.

If lindholm is there at 8 Buffalo would be stupid not to take him.

I am not sure who Shinkaruck is, but I doubt Hunter Shinkaruk even makes it to Calgary's pick. You would be extremely lucky to have him.

Thank you Mrs. Shinkaruk. But if Calgary takes him at 6 no one in the city will be happy. I'd be pretty surprised if he went top 10 let alone top 5.

How is that nuts? Shinkaruk is great and all, but if the Flames passed on Monahan AND Lindholm, there would be riots. You don't pass on the opportunity to build strength down the middle. You definitely don't pass on that opportunity in Calgary, where there hasn't been a 1C in a little over a decade.
