Where will Lecavalier play next year?

Just bought out. Might have to clear waivers

Where does he end up?

He has a NMC so no. I think Montreal or Chicago.

He misses playing with St. Louis, so playing in St. Louis is a nice alternative.

Florida would be my pick

St Louis would be my second choice(if he wants to go to a team where he makes a perfect fit and could be a difference maker).

From my understanding, if he chooses to waive his NMC and go through waivers, he keeps his current contract structure.

But if he decides to forgo waivers, he becomes a UFA and has to accept a new contract. Am I right or way off?

Anyways, I hope he waives his NMC because then Buffalo would have a reasonable shot at claiming him while other teams might be scared away by his contract.

If he decides to go UFA, I think Montreal is most likely.
I don't think St. Louis will get a chance at him given their current cap situation and RFA's up for new contracts.

....What center wouldn't want the chance to play with a finisher and playmaker like Vanek though? Those two would feed off of each other so well.

If it's Montreal..

Day one: Fans treat him like a god.
Last game: Fans treat him like a leper.

Homer vote. NYR - At 5 mil per he would be a great 2nd line center.

If he signs in Toronto, I really think he would have to move out of Mtl (he comes home during the summer) and probably wouldn't be able to play games when Toronto visits Mtl lool.

I think if he can go to the Panthers, that would be the best case for him, but the pressure to sign in Mtl might be too much.

If Lecavalier want to come here

And if Bergevin do want him on his team

He have a lot of roster management to do in order to have a spot on the top 6 or even on the third line for him

Plekanec, Desharnais are centers and won't be move to wing. Eller have played wing before but he's much less effective. Galchenyuk played wing this season but he is the big center the organization have been waiting for for decades.

No point in trading Plekanec to make spot for Lecavalier. Plekanec is younger, better and his contract isnt bad.

Trading Desharnais, when we just re-signed him for four more years, is a move I don't suspect Bergevin to make any time soon.

So where does he fit in?

Answer: he doesn't. Unless someone pickup Desharnais.

I have a feeling it's Montreal based on how they tried to trade for him in the past and I realize that was a different mangament group.

However I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't want to sign there because of the media preasure, although would that also count out Toronto for the same reason?

I'll be very surprised if Mtl doesn't make room for him and/or Vinny opts for another team.

I'd say 85% Montreal.

Montreal would be my first guess but I'm not so sure Bergevin will. Cap issues pose another problem.

What about the Torts connection in Vancouver ? Toronto maybe ?

I think Montreal or Toronto makes sense. Both could use a top 6 center, and both can adjust to fit him under the cap, and closer to home.

Vancouver doesn't have any cap space and they only have around $48,000 left to spend, assuming they don't buyout Luongo and Ballard. So they need to dump salary before they can think of signing anyone. Plus we saw what happened to Brad Richards after signing with the Rangers just because of his past with Tortorella. So that's not always a good thing because you might like the coach.
