karlson after one year? backes over other guys? Not a single goalie? Great idea in this thread, really think so, but the list needs tweaking to make the thread legit. Love the idea.

I mean at least one from each team? Backes and Jordan Staal over ryan Miller? Let alone Poms or Vanek who are prolly worse mind you but still...as a sabres fan?

Pietrangelo for the wings without having to even think. We're set everywhere else, he fills our only big need.

Might not be the BPA but I'd love to see Mike Richards on the Leafs. Lets take a look at his resume

#1 Centre
Physical
Natural Leader
Has a great contract for all the intangibles he brings.
He fits the age profile that woud fit in the Leaf's dressingroom.
Shoots left, so he would fit nice between Kessel and Lupul.
He wins championships

Karl Alzner because Alzner-Myers.
6 months ago I would've picked a center, but I feel pretty good about our odds of getting 2 legitimate top 6 centers out of Ennis/Hodgson/Grigorenko/Girgensons/Catenacci, and Alzner is exactly the kind of guy Myers would really click with.

Pietrangelo for me,

Pietrangelo - Jbo
Gio - Wideman

That is a great top 4 for a long time.

Honorable mention to Andy MacDonald BTW. The OP did say their contract comes with it, and that'd be a lovely cap hit for the next five years, considering what he brings to the table.

Erik Gudbranson or Tyler Myers for Montreal

Can we do the opposite? Where you force another team to take one of your players. Here Boston take Gomez.

Backstrom or Seguin to Chicago. Fills their biggest hole (2C).

I'd take Mikko Koivu for the Hawks. He'd fit so perfectly into the number two spot. Sharp - Koivu - Hossa anyone? Elite two-way play with Sharp and Hossa providing offense firepower from the wings and Koivu is no slouch in that department either.

Makes me drool.

Jets take Seguin. Need a legit centre.

I'd also be tempted by James Neal.

Yeah no, Backes was a borderline decision, he's obviously not a scorer, but he's the best forward on a good Blues team he can hit, play defense and play center and wing. (Curious to see how many people would have chosen Backes if he was available). The idea was not to have one player run away with all the votes. That being said I probably should have added Pietrangelo to the list.

Eric Staal, great scoring and defense, plus has a wealth of experience in the playoffs. Now we have a #1 center in Phoenix.

Edit: sorry missed Eric on the list.. I'll replace him with Duchene.
