A lockout is a thing that makes your contract not honoured. You know why? Because it is regulated under the labour laws by the fact that the players obtained those while being certified. And no a contract isn't unbreakable, that's complete BS. Any arguments about those having to be honoured or not would have to be heard by a qualified judge. This isn't as simple as you are stating and most people on this board have no idea what the outcome of such argument would be.
That isn't "well put", he sounds like a bit of an idiot.
Why is he an idiot? Because you don't agree with him?
It's funny the players are saying they are fighting for each other, yet the ones who benefit most are star players. What depth player is gonna get more than a 5 year deal? All these attempts to stop cap circumvention benefits star players. Also, the better players in the nhl are playing overseas earning a contract, while "lower-tier" players are stuck without a job and paycheque. Also these latter players aren't as good as the star ones, so they don't have as much of a career to make money.

Fehr thought his PR stunt was gonna be good enough till Bettman let it all out in an Oscar lite rant which exposed Fehr's bluntest lies. Who said Bettman didn't care?
Now Campoli just cried on TSN radio while commenting.
NHL players made their own bed by isolating Hamrlik and Neuvirth. ZERO SYMPATHY for them.

I never said it wasn't complicated. But I believe that devoid of a union, the lockout itself becomes illegal on it's face, and individual contracts become enforceable.
Mind you, it is true that once the lawyers become involved, who the hell knows.
Further complicating things, is different jurisdictions may well rule differently than others. I'd be willing to argue that here in La Belle Province, judges will rule in favor of the players....
About time the majority of the players wake up and salvage their loss when there is still time...
The players dividing will be the only way we have hockey this year. Fehr and the hardliners are ready to fight until the end for "what happened in 04".

Cole has to make sure his contract stands as a precedent for those entering the league between now and the next CBA in 5 years after all!
If the season blows up on this note, it's going to feel really strange cheering for Cole and more or less for Gorges as well. How could the org give captaincy to Gorges after a blow up like that? Remember that in Montreal, the Captain is chosen as a representative of the team first. He's not voted in.
Don Cherry @CoachsCornerCBC
I have known Gary Bettman since he was named commissioner. I have never seen him so livid as he was tonight at the press conference...

And Cole... well I guess he should retire
And out they come, probably one of the many booing Roy on his last night in Montreal no doubt.
Not surprised that Fehr wouldn't put it to a vote or even hold a conference call...This is precisely what he was hired for, he doesn't need to care about the game or the fans, he's there to get the best deal possible for the players...just like Bettman is Co. are for the owners.
In the end, we're not at the breaking point yet and IMO, this is all part of the negotiation process...there's still time.
