Hemsky's better but 82 games from Brouwer >>> 45-50 games from Hemsky.

Oiler fans overrate Hemsky big time. The guy is okay but never healthy and only scored 10 goals last season.

Counter (not related):
Neuvirth, Hamrlik, (pick?)
for
Dubnyk
Caps get rid of the Czechs that it looks like are becoming the locker room problem (or will become when the locker room, ehh, unlocks). Oil gets a goalie with roughly the same potential as Dubnyk but two years younger and a veteran D to help and mentor their youngsters. Caps get a bit of a more proven goalie that seems like a good fit with Holtby.

as an Oiler fan, i wouldn't be against it, as long as we could sign Troy long term?

Only person getting overrated here is Brouwer. He's a 3rd line players. Its a easy no from Edmonton prospective. And I never understood why people bring Hemsky's goal totals up, he's always been a past first player.

Okay then. He had 26 assists and 36 points. You say Brouwer is ONLY a third liner. Well he had 33 points last season , just three points shy of your Hemsky.

Hemsky is a first line talent ? Thats why on every thread coming out of Edmonton he is on it. Brouwer is the kind of kid u want in the lineup say versus Boston in a seven game set. Hemsky's shoulder does not hold up in a seven game set vs Boston.

Logic behind it was the Caps could use some top end skill to replace Semin and the Oilers could use some grit/size that can still chip in offensively. Both teams have been underachieving and should be making some shakeups.

In 23 less games in his worst pro season at least try and sound like you know what your talking about.

The east overall is way softer than the west. Hemsky's skills are better suited to the eastern conference.

If we wanted to replace Semin we would have signed Semin.

13 fewer games. 69+13=82.

In 13 less games, plus he probably had the worst season he'll ever have. If you had watched him at the end of the season, you'd have noticed that he was back in top form. I'm counting on him to score at least 65 points next year.

Suprised so many caps fans are against this. Getting a guy with a career .78 PPG for a guy with a career .45 PPG is a pretty sweet probably one that will never come around again. If Hemsky's value wasn't at an all time low I wouldn't even consider this deal.

There's a reason Hemsky's value is at an all time low.

Brouwer is generally top 10 in the league in hits, can drop the gloves and keep up with top 6 players on scoring lines. He's no Lucic but those players are much more valuable than their stats. Hemsky's injury proneness and lack of physical play are a pretty big concern. As is the caps becoming marshmallow soft without Brouwer.
