Maybe during the Lockout, Bobby Clarke and Lindros worked out their differences. Maybe 88 will be back in Orange and Black. Id like the Rangers to bring him back. When he is healthy he is still pretty good. Good leader for the Rangers youth.
A: Speaking about the season being cancelled, refunds, etc. etc. etc.
B: Speaking about the season about to begin in 10 days.
It will be interesting to hear what the Flyers (and other NHL teams for that matter) do about the STH money that they already have. I'm willing to bet that they aren't going to refund it and will apply it to next season's tickets.
I am really looking forward to Roenick's comments on all of this.
You gotta believe Bobby's gonna have a few zingers himself. I don't think anyone from Bettman to Goodenow are gonna be safe from some Clarke bombs. Should be fun to watch.

I highly doubt that Clarke will say anything about Bettman. On the other hand, it wouldn't shock me if he rips Goodenow and the PA to shreds.
He's not really say much that hasn't been said before, but then again he's got one hand tied behind his back on some of this. Says he has nothing but respect for the players. He doesn't look very good though, how old is Snider? Looked very upset, near tears at times. It's over now, they (Snider, Ryan, Clarke?) are taking one on one interviews,Ed the Man Moran was the first person to get to him in individual interview, surely he'll give some info on DNL. I'll post Clarke/Hitchcock highlights as they come.
Snider also said that this didn't have to happen because the owners offered a cap last time, I guess he forgot the owners caved last time.
Snider: "We're honest businessmen, how can we cheat internal revenue?"
Oh come on Ed, don't feed us that *********.
Problem is the rest of the owners aren't like him. If the other 29 were anything llike Snider, league revenues would be at $3 Billion, and hockey would be played as we speak.
Esche (team player rep) is on the phone with DNL, he sounds drunk. Says he's upset because the people who are losing the most are the people who are ushers, bartenders, ticket salespeople. He said a stupid thing with the "never accept a $200 million cap" but he's atoning for it now.
Hitchcock says now he'll look and see what the league will allow him to do, perhaps help friends who are head coaches somewhere. Said he won't go coach in Europe or anything, that he is loyal to the Flyers and won't do anything to violate his contract.

I love Robert Esche. He sounds so good. "We're playing in a glorified youth hockey league and I realize how lucky we are. I'm one of the lowest paid starting goalies in the league, but I am happy to be making what I am to be playing this game"
So Awesome. He's really going off now. It's great.
Esche sounds distraught. . . and drunk. He has just mentioned being one of the lowest-paid goaltenders in the league, called himself an idiot in so many words, and a redneck in just those words. He is also "disgusted" by the cancellation, and is demanding "answers" from just about everyone involved. I feel terrible for him, and Ed Snider, who looked like someone just shot his puppy.
Funny how many times I've heard players say that they were lucky to have what they have and yet they're fighting for more. The million dollar question, at this point is the player's assosciation looking out for their own best interest instead of the whole group they're said to represent.
They aren't fighting for more .. they're fighting to give up 25% instead of 35% ... approximate figures.
I understand your point, but the flip side of that is that the players have been paid well above market for the better part of the past decade. The owners, to put it in stock market terminology, are seeking a market correction. It stinks for the players, but it's better for the overall health of the league.

Players were paid what the market would bear over the last decade, no more, no less. Yes, a correction was needed, and it was there to be had for both sides today.
