Yes, the Marlies defense is brutal if the attack moves the puck. Not sure how many times I've seen their defenders undressed over the past few games.

Except for the passing I thought it was a good game.

Good pace, some nice shots, saves.

I said this a couple weeks ago, but I'm surprised how poor some of the passing and receiving of passes are.

Definitely was an enjoyable game. My wife even came out and asked who I was yelling at.

They'll fix it, nothing to worry about.

Frattin can pass?

7G 2A in 7 games.

On the first Kadri goal you could see the entire Americans' team had their eyes on Frattin and got sucked over to Aucoin leaving Kadri uncovered.

And really why wouldn't you worry about Frattin.

On the winner Frattin was looking pass the entire way up the ice and the play developed perfectly, but I think like the 2nd. goal against Scrivens Leggio wants that one back.

Kadri had a lot of SOG's today. 7 shots, second most was Frattin for 5 SOG's. Kadri should shoot the puck more like he did this game. 35 shots by Marlies and 38 by Rochesters.

I mean don't worry about whether he'll get the 1st assist, I'm pretty sure he'll get awarded with it.

Hit at least two posts as well, which don't count as SOGs.

He played well despite some errors here and there.

I actually complained to MLSE about how crappy the ice is. I was at the game last night and the surface was pretty bad.

I'd hardly quality that as just the "end of the year".

The guy is almost the same age as Kessel. Please spare me your rookie BS. Yes, some adjustment time is required to get used to the speed of the game, and the size of the opponents (before that season, Frattin was dominating against kids), he didn't really show much at the NHL level to indicate that he'll be anything more than a decent 3rd liner.

His shooting percentage (8.7%) was almost as abysmal as Kulemin (6.5%), who's only a year and a half older than Matt. While Kulie's getting put down for it, Frattin's season is being pronounced as some sign of great things to come. He's a sniper with very little vision, and hockey IQ, and the majority of his shots come from ridiculous angles. That may have worked for him at the university level, and even in the AHL, but he'll have a hard time being successful in the NHL unless he adopts.

He also didn't use his frame effectively in the NHL, either to protect the puck, cause havoc in the tough areas of the ice, or to knock people through the boards. His 3 biggest hits of the season involved plays when he wasn't even aware of an impending impact.

Best case, we have a good reliable defensive 3rd line winger, worst case, we have a career AHLr, who can help develop our future centers.

Completely disagree with you.

Frattin showed he can play in the NHL, what we have yet to know is if he'll be a 2nd. liner or a 3rd. liner.

Physically he hardly had any problems in the NHL, probably the one asset that anyone who watched him wouldn't debate.

Getting used to the speed is where we'll have to wait and see on which line he ends up.

I would much rather have a player of Kulemin's skillset play on the 3rd line, than one of Frattin's. If Frattin can improve on his defensive game, I'd feel pretty good about having him in a shutdown role. You know, PK specialist, punishing hitter, can be relied on to be matched up against the superstars of the game, etc, etc.

The line combos above show that he spent very little time on the 3rd line, as he was pretty much handed the 2nd line role on a silver platter by Ronnie. Most of his 3rd line minutes included the 0 goals in 19 games stretch. I'm not sure that's proof of anything. What he has shown is that he needs top 6 linemates to produce at a 3rd liner's pace.

Ah, so your personal opinions suddenly become facts? Interesting...

He's like a Kulemin instead of a Bozak/Brown/Steckel. He was too passive, and didn't go out of his way to finish his checks. His hits were also about as punishing as Kulemin's hits are, instead of say the Phaneuf, Komisarek, Brown, Armstrong type hits. Like the majority of the Leafs, he didn't use his size to stir up crap in front of the net (unlike Kulemin/Lupul), but stayed in the safe areas the majority of the time.

It's more than that. Even if most of his shots remain Blake-quality, he will need to use his linemates a lot better than he has in the NHL so far. I believe this will be the biggest thing that holds him back from becoming a good 2nd liner.

My appologies, I should have posted the source below the tables. I usually do. It's figures leftwinglock normalized for Frattin's line combos.

Why was Blacker wearing a cage in yesterdays game? Did he suffer some sort of face injury?

Anybody who can't cut a kid coming out of college, first year as pro, some slack isn't just full of BS, they're just a tool of a commentator. Zzzzz.

It's not about not cutting him a break, it's about him not having shown much at the NHL level. I'm happy that he found success at the AHL level, and hope he finds a way to translate it to the NHL. Until he does, he's as much of a wildcard as some of our other prospects (except 2-4 years older than most), and I don't see the benefit of over-hyping him.
