Would RNH go in the 1st round of a fantasy draft?

Simple question: do you think RNH would go in the first round if the NHL somehow had a fantasy draft right now?

I'm going to say yes but towards the very end of 1st round or beginning of second round

this, if all teams are starting over, gm's will go for the young-ish stars first.

You mean fantasy hockey, right? Not a chance.

If all teams just decided to have one big draft of all the players go into one draft, not fantasy hockey, a real life fantasy hockey draft though

What's standard for fantasy hockey? Goals, assists, +/-, PPP...?

Fantasy hockey (like in Yahoo), absolutely no chance. Assuming its a 10-12 player league, there are more than 12 players who are LOCKS to go before anyone even considers RNH. I'll even give you 20:

Crosby
Malkin
Stamkos
Ovechkin
Giroux
Lunqvist
Rinne
Karlsson
Sedin
Sedin
Quick
Tavares
Perry
Letang
Neal
Backstrom
Richards
Parise
Weber
Chara

In that case, probably yes. In fantasy hockey, hell no.

Yeah probably, it would be late in the first round though.

In real hockey, definitely. He'd be a middle to late 1st. He's got as much potential as anyone in the league, but you're probably gonna take proven young studs (Pietrangelo, Quick, Karlsson, etc...) over him. All of the older elite players (Lundqvist, Spezza, Hossa, Kovalchuk, etc...) would probably fall behind him.

It depends. If it's a 30 team fantasy draft but the goal is to be the best team right now (like in a single season of fantasy hockey), than no, I don't think he would be one of the first 30 players selected. If it's a re-draft of the entire league from scratch and the teams that result are going to be playing together for years to come, than yes, I think because of his age and upside, he would be one of the first 30 players drafted.

To clarify, I think he's talking about a hypothetical fantasy draft of NHL players. All current NHL players become free agents and go into a draft from all 30 teams. For example, Edmonton would get the 1st overall pick (for tradition's sake ) and take Crosby.

For the people that keep on asking like it's computer fantasy leagues, no it is as if you were the GM of a team and the whole league starts a draft with every player. IMo I feel that Ovy would drop to 10 for some reason. These would be 1st 4 though. And don't think that even Dats will go 1st round

Crosby
Malkin
Giroux
Stamkos

He's probably a sure bet to become a #1 center one day, so yeah, most likely a late first round pick.

Assuming thirty teams and only for a single season I think he goes late first to middle second. If it is a keeper draft then I think he is a solid first rounder.

Yes he's easily a top 30 valued player in the league (i'm pretty sure this is a redistribution draft question not fantasy)

the funny thing is I took RNH 14th overall in a fantasy keeper league.
So my answer is yes.

Fantasy Draft. Not Fantasy Hockey.

And, I think he might get in at the end of the first round, top 5 in the second round at the worst.

If this was a 30 team draft and it wasn't fantasy? Sure. I don't think he got picked until round 4 in my dynasty draft.

Checks username...this is me not surprised. Though in a keeper league it isn't the worst idea.

No, too many players with more fantasy value and that are better than him right now.

How about now? In a dynasty draft (lifetime), not just one year.

Yes

Guys like Datsyuk/Chara/Lundqvist/etc.. who are amazing players wouldn't go in the first round due to their age.
