Opened at 5.5, shifted to 11.5 once they realized the Spurs guys were sitting.

They're old

A little known fact: The Washington Wizards have actually been resting their starters for 12 games
1) We're barely into the season

2) It's not Stern's fault that San Antonio is old

3) The Wizards have been resting their starters for more than 25 years now

This is all about $ and perception and Stern has every right to be mad and to stop this crap. No matter the outcome of this game.

Gary Neal blew this for the Spurs. So many ill advised 3s.

Neal had some horrible shot selections here in crunch time.

Ray Allen clutch again with another game winner. This signing gets better and better each game.

Heat once again play down to their opponent but avoid the embarrassment of a loss. Spoelstra should be pissed.

Will Stern still penalize the Spurs even though that was such a competitive game?

That was one of the most exciting games I've seen all year. Not sure how you can punish SA for putting a product that entertaining on the floor.

Fun game, not like I'd like to get used to that lineup, but still I'm OK with it. Don't care about the record esp in November and don't care if this could be a matchup one day beyond the season. The Spurs got to rest the starters and still showed they had some push back. Good for them.

Oh, and as for Stern's punishment, watch Pop care...

Where was Stern last season when Pop sat some of his starters v Portland and Utah? I have no problem with Stern being upset about this, but he needs to be consistent even going down the stretch when other coaches have sat starters to "rest".

But it is his fault that the Spurs just played 6 away games in 9 days. 4 in 5. And that the heat come up against the other top team in the league after such an exhausting week, while the heat rested. And that the heat did the same thing last year, and it was completey ignored

He should have put an end to it last year. But with the schedule, you could at least make an argument.

But doing it this soon, much less resting all three of their best players is bogus.

A lot of people will simply blame Stern. But this goes above him.

You can't tell me that TNT is all that happy and will think twice the next time about ever scheduling San Antonio versus a lesser team.

So, will it be OK when other teams do it down the stretch to rest their starters going into the playoffs? And what exactly is he going to do to punish them to make them think twice about it next time? This is something that has happened for years, why now?

Also, if TNT was really worried about this they probably shouldn't have scheduled the Spurs vs Portland next month. Like I mentioned already Pop has sat his guys vs Portland before and sure enough, once again Portland is the 2nd night of a back to back. In fact the only Spurs game on TNT left that isn't part of a back to back for SA is the one vs Dallas in March.

When people say Pop has done this before, do they mean he's sat 4 of 5 starters?

Warriors represent the entire bay area and will be moving to SF in 5 years or so.

My son wants to see the Kings play the "Reptars", so I got tickets for next wed game in Sac. One good thing about being a bad team is that stubhub has really good deals. 10 bucks for 8th row tickets.

Uggh, when my yet unborn son arrives in Toronto I might try to keep the Reptars a secret from him...

Glad to hear though!

Ginobili got injured in the season last year so he was inactive for bits and pieces, but it didn't stop Popovich from sitting others as well.

Feb 21 vs Portland with Manu being "inactive" he also sat Duncan and Parker on the 2nd of a back to back.

April 9 he didn't play the big 3 even though they had (with Ginobili coming off the bench) the night before.

Final games of the season:
April 25 v PHX, big 3 inactive
April 26 v GS, big 3 inactive along with Jackson
--- Pop also took these games off

I believe he did this the season before as well, but I'd have to look up those box scores as well (Duncan had messed up his ankle that season). That said Pop sitting the big 3 isn't that shocking, but this may have been the first time he sat 4. Sometimes Pop says they sit because of bumps & bruises or in Duncan's case once last season because he's old. If the NBA says he can't do it again, next time he'll probably just say instead of them being "inactive", "coach's decision" or "old", he'll just add an injury of some sort and they'll be miraculously cured the next night.

Sarver - worst owner in history?

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/86...-fun-guarantee

Quote:
Next Thursday, the Phoenix Suns will be the first team in NBA history to guarantee its fans that they will have fun at the game against the Mavericks, or they can get their money back.

Phoenix Suns fans can send back their ticket for a refund if they don't have fun next Thursday.

The idea of "Satisfaction Guarantee Night" came out of a staff meeting following a 112-106 overtime loss to the Chicago Bulls on Nov. 14.

"After that game, I think we were all struck by the fact that so many people were leaving our building with a smile on their face," said Suns president Jason Rowley, who took over as team president this summer. "Normally, when a team loses fans are down. But not with us. And that was an eye-opening moment."
