All it took to get him was a 2nd rounder makes him not seem all that valuable.
To be honest I know nothing about him, hopefully he really improves our team along with the new OC and DC

Dave Naylor reports that the Eskimos guaranteed Mike Reilly the starting job. Gutsy move if that's true. Liked the idea of competition.

Well, he was a free agent. The Esks gave up a 2nd rounder to sign him two weeks before free agency.

He's an unproven QB in the CFL, but like others have said, he will push Matt Nichols and create competition for the starters job.

On another note, John MacKinnon of the Journal is saying that the Esks will not bring Joseph back either. Another good move.

In all fairness this is pretty much a deal anyone could make. The timing is just there.

No way that happens to Reed's BFF. I'd love if it were true, but I don't see it.

Edit: If they release Joseph today, I might even reconsider my season ticket stance.

Naylor loves stirring the pot when it comes to the Eskimos.

I have my doubts about Reilly as well. The Eskimos gave him free reign all over the field in that game he started against the Esks. I wasn't impressed and he came back down to earth the very next week.

The Esks have not guaranteed him the starting job.

This move takes Joseph from 90% returning next season, to about 50% likely.

@CCtsn: Got chirped by #Esks fans for "overhyping" Mike Reilly when he beat Edm in Oct. Expect they'll see it differently now that he's an Esk. #CFL. Chris Cuthbert

@rjmackinnon: #Eskimos release DB Rod Williams, DL Lee Robinson. Both believed to have #NFL tryouts. #cfl

Yeah, that was my first thought regarding Williams.

Listening to our new QB with Gregor on the radio, he said "i expect to be the starter" i look forward to seeing him next season

This last eskimos season i took more interest in the team then ever before hopefully we start winning.

@JasonGregor: "I go into this situation expecting to start. I feel good about my abilities. I plan on winning the job." Reilly on #Esks QB job.

Here's the terms of Mike Reilly's contract: 70k to sign, 70K base, 72k of game-start bonus and 40k-plus of stat and all star incentives

Mike Reilly signed one-year deal, plus an option

I'm surprised at Robinson being cut. A year ago they thought he'd eventually start at the Mike-linebacker position.

Well he understands Eskimos and Edmonton sports fans extremely well then. Its not inaccurate.

Case in point people would hate to have Kevin Glenn here but a lot of people mad he ended up in Calgary.

Go figure.

I like Reilly, wouldn't be prepared to hitch the cart to him and we need more not less options. Its a good start.

Hmm, we will have to wait and see how it goes. Reilly was good in a very different teams system, so that really doesn't guarantee that he will flourish here. However, the only choices we had were Reilly or McPherson so hopefully the Esks made the wise move.

Pretty reasonable terms, I think.

And down goes Naylor's credibility even more. Just read an interview with Hervey and he says the starters job was NOT given or guaranteed to Reilly. He will compete for it.
