Its not like he was just standing there waiting for the team to get him the puck. After the faceoff, there was a bit of a scramble until Galchenyuk got the puck. He then settled his team down, let them get the PP set up, and passed it off to
them, which eventually led to the goal.
One of the things we really missed about Markov was his ability to give his teammates those few seconds needed to set up the PPwhile he calmly controlled the puck. It makes a huge difference and, IMO, was one of the reasons our PP struggled without Markov, as the PP was reduced to dump/chase.
Fantastic point, I agree completely.

Again, I couldn't careless about the points he's racking up, it's nice but not indicative of the type of player he is, he does so many things that are 'pro-level' in the OHL...that's what makes me most excited.
Exactly! People here are getting excited about empty net assists and point totals. Points only matter at this level when they are being accrued in such a manner that you can project them to the NHL. He is doing things that work in the NHL and isn't another pond hockey superstar who often lead these leagues in scoring as overagers.

He does need to work on his first four steps and gain some strength but everything is there for him to become a star.

An excellent point. Last season, the PP was dump-the-puck-to-the-other-team and chase-them-out of the zone-as-they-get-a-shorthanded-chance-against-Price.

Great observation!

I have also noticed this and it reminds me of Kovalev on the power play when he controls the game from the half boards.

Windsor is starting their backup as Pavelka supposedly forgot his pads.

Could be another big night for Gally.

Ultra fast first period it seemed. Gally looking good, Vail too.

I disagree. Gally looked sloppy and sluggish out there. He made some nice passes, but fell to the ice on one occasion and also lost a board battle to Ho-Sang. He looks to be getting a bit rattled and frustrated as he tried carrying the puck and scoring by himself on a few occasions.

Vail does look good though. Winning most of his face-offs (against Sarault) and is defensively responsible.

1st period;
7 shifts, 7:42 TOI

1 turnover, 0-for-1 in the face-off circle. Attempted a shot but missed the net.
Lost a board battle behind DeKort, to Ho-Sang.

Not a very strong period for Gally or the Sting. Murphy and Goldobin played very well though.

How does one forget his pads? Do they have an equipment manager that should of brought it or some kind of mixup? I'd think that would be something you make sure you have as a goalie. lol

Pavelka is on the bench. Got his pads just in time for the puck drop. DeKort is still in there though.

This seems like a letdown game for Alex, it was due to happen. You won't keep racking up 2+ points on average over such a long stretch in a good league like the O.

Or we can credit Vail for shutting him down.

Well, regardless that was an ugly second period for Galchenyuk. Lots of WTF moments. Vails line shutting em down.

Not getting a lot of retweets tonight. Nobody likes hearing about a bad game.

2nd period;
8 shifts, 8:51 TOI
2 turnovers, 2 shots on net.

He had a few good shifts where his line looked menacing out there and other times, they could not stop turning the puck over. I've seen Alex play well without the puck mostly every night but tonight he looks very passive and uninterested.

As it has been said, pretty quiet night for Gally so far.. dont think he was that bad, just not his best effort out there..
