I might too, but I'd feel bad for the animal. It traps them and they starve and it digests their juices when they die by the sounds of it.

what if the animal was already dying of natural causes?

the plant would just be helping to put him out of his misery

That would be like watching paint dry. First they starve to death, then they decompose. Not exactly something you can finish during a bag of popcorn
