Yeah but they got him for a reliever with shoulder problems so it's a wash on the injury front. If we could have gotten him for Marmol, you'd do that, wouldn't you?
Wow, talk about a steal for the Angels. Both guys have their inconsistencies but Hanson is a quality SP and makes their rotation that much deeper.
His arm and shoulder are both about to explode. I don't really like what the Braves got back for him, but it's better than nothing. At least Walden will be cheaply controlled by them for the next few years. Makes me wonder if they're worried about Venters' elbow, or if they want to possibly have one of the all time great 7-8-9 punches.

Eh, not really. I used to be high on him, but like Ray said, his arm is ready to explode. Not to mention his emotional problems. The kid is a mess.

I know about his shoulder problems, people have been saying his shoulder was about to fall off for years. However, I didn't know about the psychiatric problems, please elaborate.

I'd have to see where I found it, but I read somewhere that the vibe was that Hanson didn't feel right in Atlanta and was depressed there.

It's getting worse, his shoulder and elbow. His fastball last year was down 1.5 MPG from 2011, and down 2.6 MPH from his rookie season. Not only that, but he was expected to mature as he reached the big leagues and improve on his control to be able to consistently pitch deep into games. He hasn't done that, and anytime he takes the mound you realistically need to only expect 5 innings out of him. His B/9 last year was the worst it has ever been, and couple that with a average FB under 90 for a guy who came up as a power pitcher... Forget that. Get anything at all you can for him.
It makes sense for Atlanta given their deep rotation of guys better than Hanson, however Hanson will make about 4M next year and is in his first year of arbitration. We just paid double that for 1 year of Scott Feldman. The Angels got great value for a good reliever. Not everyone is Mark Prior. The guy was cheap to get, cheap to pay, makes his starts and once it is time for him to fixed up, he could come back much better than last year and still quite cheap.
I didn't expect that as he was a guy who would have most likely passed waivers and been complete free agent
Houston must think they can get him back to 2011 level ,, Though if Cooper couldn't turn the kid around for more then a year I have doubts any other coach can

Wilson would be great, much prefer Fujikawa though. I'd give Bourn 4 years 55M, let's make a big signing, if the pitching is good, we could score just enough with Bourn to win. Imagine a 1-2-3 of Bourn-Castro-Rizzo with Soriano cleaning up. That's an excellent top of the order.

Bourn is asking for a 100M contract, and I'm sure someone will massively overpay and meet those demands. No chance he signs for a 4/55M deal.
