Perry easily now. Only one who might get bumped up over him is RNH, but even that's unlikely.

What? I hardly see RNH even making the team. Stamkos was better at the same age and didn't even make it.

Perry all the way.

Perry easily.

My bet:

Tavares-Crosby-Perry
Nash-Stamkos-Giroux
Benn-Toews-???
???-Bergeron-Sharp

3 more spots available:
3rd line winger: Eberle, Seguin, and E.Staal available.
4th line winger: M.Richards and Hall.
13th forward: Any of those above.

I'd take Thornton and Getzlaf over Benn and Sharp easily, maybe even MSL over those guys depending on how his season is going.

And that was probably a mistake.

We can keep overthinking our teams and coming up short...or we can roll 4 lines of supreme talent and just dominate.

Also before it gets to that point, I'd like to point out that most Oiler fans think Hall is better than Eberle.

Nash-Crosby-Perry
Tavares-Stamkos-Giroux
Richards-Toews-Iginla(Depending on if he's still got it by then)
Staal-Staal-Benn

My guess. Kinda hard to predict this team though, it's amazing. Only surprise pick on my list I guess you can say is Jordan Staal. Just have a good feeling he's about to turn it up playing with Eric in Carolina.

There can only be so many centres on team Canada and Spezza isn't a better player than Crosby, Stamkos, Toews, Tavares or Bergeron.

I'd also vote for Seguin over Spezza at this point since Seguin is absolutely crushing Spezza production-wise on big ice in the Swiss league and Seguin should be even better when the Olympics start in a little over a year.

Who says Spezza can't play the wing?

Centres play wing all the time in international tournaments.

I went with M.Richards here, I think what he brings to a bottom-six can't be overlooked.

Tavares - Crosby - Perry
Nash - Stamkos - Giroux
Richards - Toews - Eberle
E.Staal - Spezza - Seguin
Bergeron

Taxi: RNH, Hall, Benn

Very similar to my team. I think Eberle is best suited for the top 6 though, and Nash-Toews-Richards was our best line in Vancouver, so I would switch the two of them.

Tavares-Crosby(A)-Perry
Stamkos-Giroux-Eberle
Richards-Toews(A)-Nash
Benn-Staal-Iginla (C)
Bergeron

Taxi: Seguin, Getzlaf, J.Staal

This is what I have for the offense as of today:

Line 1: Tavares-Crosby-Perry
Line 2: Stamkos-Giroux-Seguin
Line 3: Hall-Staal-Eberle
Line 4: M. Richards-Toews-Nash
13: RNH

I'll keep my vote for Mike Richards until he gets voted in, I cannot stress how important I feel he is to the team.

Unfortunately Spezza isn't good enough. Can't fill the role Toews brings, not nearly as good at offense as giroux, stamkos or crosby, can't play wing. Where do you want him? on the bench?

I don't believe he is not good enough.

Here is a list of active NHLers with more ppg than Spezza:
Crosby
Malkin
Jagr
Ovechkin
Selanne

1 Canadian

For Playoffs:
Crosby
Malkin
Ovechkin
Giroux
St Louis
Jagr
Kane
Brier

4 Canadians (one of which will be 38 by 2014, another 36. Spezza will be 30)

If Spezza played in Toronto he would be on a lot of people's list

A few Toronto fans for sure, but I doubt it otherwise.

You bring up these PPG stats, that's nice, but it does not tell me anything with regards to him being on this team at this point in time.

If we're talking about who's better than him offensively at this point in time (at centre), Crosby, Giroux and Stamkos are all consensus choices. Next we have Toews and Richards, who provide a specific role that Spezza can not be used for. Tavares is a lock as well.

Spezza would most likely need to shift over to wing, but when I think most would prefer other options who are more explosive, especially on the big ice surface. The exception would be Perry, but Perry is a nastier presence who can score in bunches.

My offense:

Staal-Crosby-Eberle
Stamkos-Tavares-Giroux
Benn-Toews-Perry
Richards-Bergeron-Seguin
Hall

Roll 3 very balanced scoring lines and a defensively oriented line. Bergeron and Seguin have chemistry, as do Benn-Perry (from this years WHC). Hall is the 13th forward because his speed and tenacity will be invaluable on the big ice surface. I could also see J. Staal or Lucic being used in this role (albeit slightly altered)

Good God Tavares is overrated on these boards, more than any other player. It's absolutely ridiculous.

What? A center who put up a PPG at age 21 on a lottery team who happens to have already had a career that includes being the all-team leading goalscorer for Canada at a major international tournament and breaking Wayne Gretzky's OHL goalscoring record, as well as having the most career OHL goals ever? I mean it's not like he finished 7th in league scoring this year and lead the NHL in points for a month.

My point is he is already among the best forwards in the NHL and there is every indication in the world that he has worlds of growing still to do, based on the players whose numbers he has matched or beaten at every stage of his career

im not yet sold on hopkins making the team. If you give him the green light, you're stuck with voting hall onto the team as well. I'd much rather see eberle with crosby and hall with tavares.
