It looks like the fat lady is warming up. The problem with this team is it just can't score and apply enough pressure in the offensive zone and it's defensive zone coverage is not very good. Special teams have fallen apart. We give up 1 or more odd man rushes a game when we have the power play and have given up as many shorthanded goals as power play goals we've scored. I think we would be better just declining any power play opportunities. The roster is quite different than it was before the NHL season started. Butler is gone, Sestito, Larson, Gionta and Pesonen are in NJ. Josefson, Tedenby and Kelly and even Hrabarenka are hurt. Not counting Hrabarenka, that's 8 key players gone which is just too much for this team not to have in the lineup.
Was browsing inlouwetrust.com and came across this article from back when Merrill was injured. There are some really reassuring quotes in there regarding Jon's maturity and commitment to the team. Figured it was worth sharing.
I forgot we even had him in Albany. Remember very early in the lockout when people thought there was a good chance he'd make the Devils NHL team? I'm wondering if part of the reason Lou reached out to Darch for a camp invite had anything to do with Parse being a bust for us. He was getting scratched a lot when I followed Albany during the lockout, and he'd also had some injuries too. Is he really gone?
