On another note, who would've thought a MIN/STL match up could be remotely entertaining. This is a whale of a hockey game, 4-4 with 2 mins to go in the third. Has been excellent. Can't help but think both these teams will dominate Edmonton when they meet.
Yup. Both of those teams executed re-builds in different fashions and both look to be reaping big time benefits of pro-active management. Same can't be said for us six plus years later.
if you look at the advanced stats, they were very 'unlucky' with both injuries and scoring chances. however that depends if you really put much stock into advanced stats.
not one sharks fan expected this especially with Burns injured though. i'm not sure what happened
Well, we used to put stock in the fact that we led the league in injuries for two straight years in 09/10 and 10/11 but evidently it didn't mean ****. This team just blows.

I dunno. One look at the Wild's back end and it isn't pretty.

I was knocking it before the season started but an established, elite franchise defenseman like Suter can make a world of difference for a mediocre defense. If he gets hurt then they'll be in trouble but as long as he's playing they'll be fine.

Take it for what you will but Suter is -5 so far this season... I think he'll help the defense improve, but if he's not on the ice there isn't much he can do.

He was pulling a Bouwmeester last I heard.
On the ice for 8 of the 10 goals against or something like that.

Ryane Clowe is a bad man...he would be my dream ufa signing this summer, but a lot of teams will be courting him.
This is one player I would fully support Tambo overpaying up the ying yang for. If he's playing with Nuge or whoever else in the top 6, the points will come. It's everything else he brings which is awesome. I realize Sharks fans have said too that he's either hit or miss and that he can have bad stretches but overall he's worth it. Total package. This all being said, I think the Sharks re-sign him.
I'm happy for him. Guy has taken a lot of **** from the media over the last five seasons.
Given that the Oilers aren't going to win anything this year, I'd be OK with a SHarks SC.

He kind of irritates me. Whenever I think of Patrick Marleau I think about him getting an unwarranted spot on the Canadian Olympic team and generally being a liability while coasting through the tournament.

Later round draft picks have really worked out for them. But they still had some high picks with Pietroangelo and EJ (traded for Shattenkirk)
Goaltending is the most intriguing as they ripped of MTL and Brian Elliot was a suprise.
Shows you dont need to trade for a guy like Luongo to get good goalies.
Watching the Jets coming back from 2 down to the Penguins, now leading 3-2, after 2
I watched WPG-WSH last week and I really think they have a good shot at making the playoffs after watching them. Pavelec makes those saves to keep the game alive and then Byfuglien seems to get random sparks and turns it up.

I remember when fans here were scoffing at the idea of dealing SS for Marleau a few years ago. Oops.
Funny how you didn't bring this little nugget out until now.

I would really see how he does this year before pulling the trigger.
I would be hesitant to give him 5 million. If Montreal gave Prust 2.5 million to play on the 4th line, they might offer Clowe 6 million plus. But at 4.5 million I would have no problem with that.

Marleau has been putting up 30 goal seasons since half the oilers roster was in diapers. The sad thing is that most fans still wouldn't make that deal. SS has been good to start the season, but Marleau had always been underrated.
