St. Louis 5 game losing streak. Sharks 5 game losing streak.
Wonder if they're panicking as much as we did.

Also I'll give Burke credit for the JVR trade. Good stuff for the Leafs.

Zero pts for ties... think about that for a sec.... with no ot or shootouts... think again what teams would do in regulation if they knew there was no free loser pt and no extra time or shootouts.

Let it sink in.

Wonder if Philly is regretting the Richards/Carter/JVR trades at this point :p

Did they really have much choice? Wouldn't the cap have been an issue if Richards and Carter were still there? As for JVR/Schenn I haven't seen enough of Schenn to comment, but they needed d help.

I think what's hurting them is the Pronger trade. Lupul, Sbisa, John Moore, Emerson Etem. Granted there are all sorts of variable here, like what would PHI have done with the picks that resulted in Moore and Etem, but they gave up 4 assets for 1.5 years of Pronger. Who knows what they could've done with those assets if they didn't acquire Pronger.

True enough, but a few years of a healthy Pronger and they are a Cup contender.

Losing those assets, and now Pronger, and then Carle and Jagr, has hurt the team.

I realize the Schenn/JVR trade was one of those trades where one team was likely to benefit in hindsight. You'd think Giroux would be happy playing with JVR right now though

Predictably. I figured it was going to be an oddball year when some teams decided to show up more than other clubs and where the results are random night/night in a compressed NHL schedule.

The league and PA love to squeeze 48 games into a shortened season but they could care less about integrity of product as long as people buy it.

On how many nights are both clubs in a game actually competing at their best or even reasonable proximity?

Indeed.

To some extent, I've written off this season as an exhibition one: for the players and the refs. :p

Kipper with an MCL strain, out for at least 2 weeks.
Also Rhett Warrener called Iginla out baaaad on team960 this morning.
Calgary's a lottery team this year.

Had to figure when the Flames claimed a goalie yesterday that Kipper wasn't going to be back anytime soon.

Doubt it. Richards/Carter had clear off ice issues that was effecting the team negatively. JVR trade needed to be done to shore up the D(and I think Schenn has it in him to be a top-4 guy).

Keep in mind that forward group is young. Read, Couturier, Voracek, Simmonds, B. Schenn are all under 25.

Trading away Schenn for JVR was a no brainer. The questions that should be asked here should be directed at the Flyers.

With Kipper out with a MCL sprain you have to wonder if hes on his last legs. He looked brutal in the first 4 games. Hes also older and MCL sprains can do way more damage to an older goalie then a young one

Yup, just like Turek 8 years ago. They went out that year and picked up some third stringer from a WC team for magic beans...

Is Warrener saying he should waive his no-trade?

Read a tweet that Redden might sit tomorrow. Then I wondered how good is he doing, there was lots of talk early that he looked good.

Stat line doesn't look good.

But Wade Redden was victimized because of his contract.........

Surely he is too good to sit in the PB.

Will be watching the Montreal game tonight.

Curious to see how Galchenyuk will do on the first line.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay is only one point behind Montreal.

No, he's saying he's a shell of the player/leader he use to be. Playing without drive, etc

MTL is putting Galchenyuk on the top line tonight on the road? Yikes.

Correction: pacioretty was moved down to the second line

And Prust up to the first line.

We'll see how that works out.

Scott Howson Relieved of his duties

As per Bob Mckenzie on twitter. Personally thought he did a good version with this years team considering the exodus.
