Re: Howson fired

How does Tamby still have a job?!

I'm glad to see some teams are not content with finishing last over and over.

@icemancometh: Ducks are expected to hire Dwayne Roloson as a goalie consultant in organization. He'll work largely with AHL Norfolk.

Jarmo Kekalainen GM of Jokerit to GM CBJ

Has great draft record

Quote:
After he left Finland in 1999 Kekäläinen became director of Player Personnel of the Senators until 2002. While with the Senators he helped in picking future NHL stars Marian Hossa, Martin Havlat, and Ray Emery. In 2002 Kekäläinen joined the St. Louis Blues as Assistant GM and Director of Amateur Scouting.

Yeah that's a hell of a hire for CBJ. His eye for talent is really good. Damn.

I guess the only positive about tonight is that Minny didn't tie the game...

Davidson was the smart hire, they needed to get someone in CBJ that understands the game the way he does.

Howson while making horrible decisions didn't exactly have the best ownership to work with. They didn't have a clue there. How does a guy on the hot seat be given the chance to re-sign Umberger and Tyutin? How do you then allow the guy to move Nash?

His track record with STL might even be better.

Backes, Pietrangelo, Berglund, Oshie, Perron, Rundblad, Schwartz, Tarasenko.

I believe Jarmo wasn't open or available to be hired is the reason Howson had a job for so long. APortz said that Davidson wanted to be sure about having a replacement lined up before firing Howson.

So If Jarmo couldn't be had until this season, and Nash wanted out immediately, your a little screwed. Maybe you can fire Howson and do the trade, but who knows.

I think timing screwed them on the Nash trade.

Seriously though, CBJ got two really good people for their management in Jarmo and Davidson. They may finally get some prolonged success in the future.

Keep in mind Nash was gone before Davidson came along.

While I agree they might get some prolonged success, they need to give Davidson money when he asks for it.

Tough year for the Avs, first RoR contract dispute, then Landeskog gets hurt and now Johnson out with a head injury. What makes it worse is they really don't have any UFA's to sell come TDD.
