Frederik Andersen NHL ETA

It looks like he's got Hiller and Fasth ahead of him, aswell as a couple of solid prospects in the mix as well. When do you think he gets his shot?

If Hiller gets traded at the draft then he will be the backup next year. If not then the year after when Hiller goes to UFA. After that Gibson should be ready for NHL duty by 2015.

Why did he choose the Ducks? isnt there any other team that he got a shot as a starter or is a sure backup?

Didnt he refuse to sign with Carolina because he feared he would be in a goalie logjam? Kind of ironic if that's the case...if he was still with the Canes he could very well be in the NHL now due to Ward's injury

He could potentially be backing up Ward or the outright starter in a few years had he signed with Carolina, given our goalie situation before we signed Ellis. But for whatever reason he chose not to sign and re-enter the draft. It's only fitting a team with great goaltending depth drafted him and now he might have to ride the pine for awhile, ride the bus in the AHL or be traded. Great decision, Frederik.

No idea about Anderson though.
Yeah too bad he left the insane competition he had to face in Carolina

Unless there was something more to the story, him not signing with the Canes was so dumb in hindsight, would be splitting starts with Ellis now.

Well, if Andersen was the backup, then Ward may very well not have been injured. Ellis was supposed to start but was ill so Ward got the start last night. If Andersen was Carolina's backup, he may not have been ill and may have the one in net being bowled into.

He seems to have pretty impressive stats in is 1st year in the AHL. Do you see him as a #1 goalie in the NHL with the Ducks or elsewhere?

Even if he does well this year the second AHL year won't hurt him. Show that you can do it two years in a row like many other top goalie prospects.

I've not watched him more than a handful of times this year but based on what he did in the SEL he's got starter potential in some capacity at least.
