IF the Raps pick up, say, the 8th pick in this year's draft and we give it to OKC....what exactly makes the "tankers" think that we'll be bad enough to get 1st overall in 2014? By my calculations, the only player of impact that we'll be losing is Calderon. Admittedly he's been a big part of our success lately, but I don't think Raps are the 30th team in the NBA without him. Heck, if getting the 1st overall is our goal, then NOT trading Bargnani should be our strategy. Ed Davis is much more valuable to winning lately.
On other news, Myck Kabongo is banned for the season by the NCAA. Will this mean he's not going in the draft this year, or will teams look past that and draft him on a hunch? I can't imagine he's a first rounder anymore.
seeing as his stock is not as high as last season and that he will not be playing any more ball i think he stays another year and hopes to be a 1st round pick in 2014 to get some guarantee money instead of being taken in the 2nd round.
I really think Bargs being injured is a huge part of this win streak. Last year we really needed Bargs' scoring, but this year we have a few more weapons to pick up the slack, like Lowry, Anderson and Valanciunas. Outside of his jump shooting, Bargs is a liability out there, with poor defence and rebounding. Bargs being out means more minutes for Ed Davis and Amir Johnson, which just makes us a better team.

Hopefully he comes off the bench and doesn't get to walk right back into the starting lineup when he comes back. But Casey for some reason thinks Bargnani is our Dirk, so who knows.

Yeah and even his shooting has been subpar this year so he's been really good for nothing.
There's some weird lighting and/or photoshopping going on there, makes Amir's tats look awful. Amir's awesome though, my favourite Rap, he's all hustle and clearly loves the team.
In a New York Times article posted Thursday about Amare Stoudemire’s eventual return to the Knicks lineup, Howard Beck dropped an intriguing revelation for Raptors fans. Citing “a person briefed on the discussion,” Beck reports that “In February, the Knicks wanted to send Stoudemire to Toronto in a deal for Andrea Bargnani.”
It's great that they are winning lately, but they still have to win on the road or it's same old same old to me. I am not too excited yet. Any team can go on a little hot streak during the season.

It's been run through a bunch of filters, no doubt. There's no way that shot is undoctored.

I know we all want Andrea out, but no way is that a smart deal. Amare's contract is ridiculous ($19.9m this year, $21.6m next, and a $23.4m ETO for 14-15 which he is almost assured to not exercise given the value of that year.) and would hamstring the Raptors financially. Bargs' contract runs just as long, but at half the dollar amount, and there's no way that Amare's declining output is anywhere worth the excess dollars that the Raptors would take on.

Quotes from Valanciunas that I find funny in a sense...
He also provided that he has had no issues gelling with much-maligned forward Andrea Bargnani.
"He's a really high-level player," Valanciunas added. "He's great on offence. It's really easy to play with him on the court on offence."
Obviously the language issues probably make this stand out more, but it really sums it up with the total lack of mentioning defence.
I really read that quote as "really high-energy player", and thought .

He's not even that good on offence, he needs 20 shots to put up 20 points. I really hope he comes off the bench when he comes back.
Davis has been playing well, but hasn't been lighting it up, really. Over the 6 most recent games, he's averaging 12 ppg and 8 rpg in 28 minutes. Definitely not too shabby, but doesn't scream "starting PF" to many teams. Overall the raps seem much better with him playing over Bargnani...but purely on the numbers Davis is very borderline as a starting PF.

Davis just meshes better than Bargs. Bargnani takes forever to move the ball, when it gets into his hands, he's either shooting it or putting is head down and driving. Notice lately how up beat the offence is, the passing, the movement..Bargs just boggles everything down. Davis has been playing a lot better lately and right now without paying attention to the numbers he's putting up, Davis deserves to start over Bargs. Andrea can take a seat when he comes back.
