I was once a Bargnani fan, but I think I am pretty well sold on the idea of trading him now. Though I don't think the raps are bad as public perception, or their record, currently indicates.
That said, who would make suitable partners on a trade for bargnani? My NBA knowledge centres around the Raptors and mainstream nba news, so I don't know a ton about other teams. I imagine we'd be looking for a playoff hopeful team that needs some more scoring.
Looking at the stats, Indiana, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Atlanta and maybe Minnesota seem to fit that criteria. Would any of them have anything worthwhile to give up to get barg?
I am somewhat ignorantly looking through stats here, but would Atlanta ever look at a Josh Smith for Bargnani trade? Smith is in the final year of his contract, compared to Bargnani's 2.5 years remaining, so as this season slips away there becomes less and less motivation to make the trade. Maybe the Hawks throw in a conditional pick if the raps don't resign Smith.
Anyways I am really just looking for thoughts on what teams might be interested in Bargnani, and now that I've posted this I am sure he'll go get a triple-double tonight and make me look like a fool.
I'm curious as well. Lakers are the team I see mentioned the most in the Bargnani trade rumors. That Bargs+ for Gasol speculation seems to be sticking around. I don't think Lakers will move Gasol until they get a better look at the team with Nash healthy though.
I can't see Atlanta being interested in that deal. Smith is too important to them IMO. I could only see them moving Smith if they are out of the playoff race and they don't think they can get him re-signed.
Josh Smith is definitely NOT leaving.. They love him and Horford as their front court. I can see a three way deal getting done between us, Minneosta and LA.
To Minnesota: Pau Gasol, Jose Calderon
To LA: Andrea Bargnani + something from Minny
To Toronto: Derrick Williams + something else.
I was literally just about to say I wonder if a deal could be worked out involving Bargs and D Williams. I like that deal, but would Minny be able to take on Gasol's contract? Not sure what their money situation is like for next couple years, but I know they have to re-sign Budinger and Pekovic

Get it done Colangelo.
Dunno if Minne would want to take on Calderon and his contract. Especially with Shved and Ridnour as PG.
Maybe switch it to Bargnani + Calderon (good depth move for PG behind Nash) for Gasol, then flip Gasol to Minne for Williams + Cunningham (depth)?
Cause he can, hes playing great. Your being too hard on him.
That was referring to a specific play where he completely ignored his teammates and almost turned it over. But yes much happier with his play in the 2nd half. Similar to Monday night where he was pretty much useless in the first half but good in the 2nd.
As a fan of Demar (but largely casual in general)...every time I turn on the game, I can't watch much more than a few minutes before I turn it off in disgust. WHAT does this guy need to do to draw a foul?
