Seth Jones vs Dougie Hamilton (please add poll)

Who would you rather have going forward?

Mods, if you can please add a poll that would be great as I am unable to do so at the moment

Both are studs with very similar skillsets. Hamilton dominates CHL competition more offensively so far. Jones has more hype from the media types. Tough to choose one, the homer me says Hamilton and that can be backed up by CHL play. But there's just aura around Jones, could be really special.

I think Jones but I'm not very firm on that, this WJC is going to be pretty telling.

Ill wait until WJHC to see how Jones looks against top end talent. If he has a decent WJHC I'd go with him.

I don't think it is easy at all, but I have been high on Jones for a while and would go with him. Most people thought he was going to play on the top pairing at the WJC last year from a lot of the camp reports. He just seems special, remember when people started writing about him when he was 14. I didn't know what to make of it and the hype around him is big, but when I see him I agree with most the scouts on why they love him. He just looks like he is going to be a monster in all zones. I know Hamilton's offense will be great I am not as sold on his defense as I am on Jones in that department as far as what I think they will be when they are finished products. Cannot go wrong with either though.

It would be awesome if the Bruins had both in about 7 months

Comparing them both in their draft years, I'd give Jones the edge in skating, puck handling and hockey IQ, but Hamilton the edge in physicality. I'd go with Jones, I see him as more talented, with a better chance at becoming a franchise dman. I think they're both going to be very good NHLers, though.

Hamilton right now.
Jones has a higher upside and is better than Hamiton was at the same age.

Overall I'd take Jones going forward

Unless you also watched Hamilton a lot before he was drafted by your Bruins, your point is awfully hypocritical.

Explain how that makes sense or is comparable to what he was saying.

Because Jones in his draft year vs Hamilton is his draft year is the most logical comparison we can make between the two. He's criticizing people for not having watched Jones enough and only basing opinions of him on hype, when he likely had similar ignorance of Hamilton prior to him being drafted. Unless he also watched Hamilton in his draft year, I think it's pretty clear why it's hypocritical for him to criticize people for not watching Jones enough. His logic must apply to both sides of the argument, and if it doesn't, it is hypocritical.

Hamilton wasnt this good when he was drafted, his stock just shot up a lot right after, its different

I dont see how that makes my hypocritical at all

Its like a poll against Patrick Hornqvist, just cause there was literally no hype about him doesnt mean he isnt good

I would probably criticize people for saying Hamilton is better than say Rundblad if it was 2011 still

There's a comparison of Jones and Hamilton with " easily Jones " that he was posting against. Nowhere was there a comparison to another player and Hamilton in his draft year and he didn't say " easily Hamilton ". There's no hypocrisy there, you're seeing what you want to see.

Duh, he's two draft years ahead of Jones.

Jones.

Im pretty sure he knows that... Sigh...

I think he was saying Hamilton is ALREADY dominating in a way that Jones is not, and while Jones may be able to dominate at that level, if not even moreso Hamilton has already proven more than Jones has (even though he is two draft years ahead)

IMO Jones has more upside than Hamilton, so I take him, but its close now, maybe not so much in the future. Like many posters have said already, I'll wait until the WJC to fully make up my mind.

Jones is miles ahead of Dougie when he was 17. Hamilton's meteoric rise happened after he was drafted. Bruins fan picking Jones the basis of him having a higher ceiling.

I wouldn't trade Dougie for Jones, so I guess Dougie.

Close tho.
