RNH + Yakupov + Hall vs McDavid + Mackinnon + Drouin

Would you take 3 first overalls pick (two already proven in the pros) vs 3 very very talented yet draft prospects?

I know it's weird poll. There's a lockout what you expect?

I'd say the undrafted 3 have more talent, but as a team looking to contend now, it makes more sense for us to take the ones who are NHL ready.

If you line all three sets in the way you listed them, I give the nod to each undrafted guy by a little. Except for McDavid who appears to be a super talent. Although I do think there's a good enough chance that Yakupov wins over MacKinnon.

I honestly don't know what to make of this poll. I mean all the Oilers guys are in or should be in the NHL if there was a season, and only two of the other guys in the undrafted side are projected to go first overall. This is a weird poll, but I went with the undrafted guys just because of McDavid.

Undrafted guys could very well end up better, but the Oilers trio is already so good, that I don't see the point in taking the risk on comparatively unknown players.

Voted the undrafted guys. McDavid alone makes this pretty easy. Kind of an unfair poll honestly.

People overrating the undrafted guys... Nug was scoring at PPG in his rookie season before he got injured.. doubt any of these other guys (maybe Yak) will do that in their first NHL season

Experience > Inexperience

Not even close but maybe in a couple of years because the skill level between the two groups is pretty equal but I take the experienced players easily.

This isn't even close. Two high quality NHL players with significant upside + a dynamic player performing exceptionally in the KHL is currently significantly better than the proposed opponents.

McDavid might be a phenom, but i'm taking 3 NHL calibre players with elite upside over 3 undrafted players, 2 of whom are equal at best with the 3 drafted players talent wise.

In a couple years i'm assuming is how you ranked them.

IN A FEW YEARS:

Nuge<McDavid
Yakupov<Mackinnon
Hall>Drouin

RIGHT NOW:

Nuge>McDavid
Yakupov>Mackinnon
Hall>Drouin

IMO

Why pick the group of players that includes two very good NHLers when I can pick the shiny new toys?

Unbiased.

If McDavid is Crosby-lite, as he's hyped to be, I think he'll be the best player out of any of these choices.

Ranking them and trying to be unbaised (based on future expectations)
McDavid (highly risky putting him first but he looks to be living up to the hype)
RNH (more proven)
Mackinnon (Alot of hype and hes a center)
Hall (over Yakupov because when healthy hes lights out)
Yakupov
Drouin

Mcdavid is also 2 years out from being draft eligible. His entire value is based on expectations. Sure hes producing at a much better rate then any guy on the list did at the same age. Alot can change in 3-4 years.

Was this just to make all the Edmonton fans say that experienced players are better then go back and show them all the posts where they claim their young players are better than established players?

RNH, Yakupov, Hall are reward enough for me. I think Mcdavid is getting a wee bit overrated. Sure he's having a sick season at 15 but he's not impressing more than Tavares or Spezza at the same age. Both those guys are unreal players, but people expecting him to be the next Crosby might need to cool their expectations a little.

That was the first thing that I thought of clicking on the thread, a troll/trap thread. Completely unsubstantiated, just a gut feeling.

That said, homer vote for the Oilers kids.

Better question would've been:

Taylor Hall (2010),Ryan Nugent-Hopkins(2011),Nail Yakupov(2012)

Vs

Nathan Mackinnon(2013),Aaron Ekblad(2014),Connor Mcdavid(2015)

next crosby sure ill buy that he's not as good, but he's picking up points quicker than tavares and spezza were at the same age.

MacKinnon and McDavid alone are superior than Hall and the other 2. Funny thing is...the 3 1st overall have all been injury prone in their careers. Hall: no need to explain. RNH: shoulder injury Yakupov: concussion last year.

Drouin and Mackinnon have crazy chemistry, and McDavid is supposed to be the best of them all.

The undrafted 3.
