When did Tavares become the 5th best player in the world? I don't know if i'm missing something or what...
I'm personally basing my vote based on age/potential. I'm assuming your gripe is over OV, but if a team were starting a franchise, winger is likely the least important position, regardless of the calibre of player.
He could have gone earlier, but i think the current Alexandr is not worthy of top-5 pick. Quick would be nice too, but not sure if he can repeat last season.

If I recall well, the OP in the first thread said something along the lines of us voting on a single season, so count me in among those who wouldn't take Tavares over Kovy, Lundqvist, Weber, Chara or Ovi for only one season.

It's not voting on a single season. Think of it as all the players being thrown into a pool and the GMs take turns drafting players for their new team.
