I don't get the whole "over-qualified" approach, especially not if the person being interviewed is accepting the terms and pay rate.

Isn't the fact that you're better than everyone else that has come in... a good thing?

I don't know how it is with other businesses but my mom's boss once commented that she hated hiring people with experience since they tend to cost more and are more willing to move onto a new job with a larger salary

It also sets the tone that you may half ass your work.

Or they are an organization that is looking to give someone a start in the industry.

Or they are looking for someone green to pay less.

Yes, because with the current recession, we all can turn down jobs that pay a little less or move on to those hundreds of other jobs available to us within a year because they offer more.

If you're overqualified you're more likely to find a better paying job and quit on them.

No organization in their right mind hires someone new to any branch, to give them a start in the industry. Everywhere I've looked, and I've looked everywhere, always puts up the big "Experience necessary."

Well... if you won't give me experience, and he won't give me experience... WHERE THE HELL DO I GET THE BLOODY EXPERIENCE?

I ain't even mad. I got a job. Still though...

Securing a job in a "recession" doesn't mean you will not be looking to move on quickly. Why wouldn't you? You wouldn't float your resume that is better suited for other positions around, even if you are currently employed here? Of course you would.

"Experience Necessary" is used for two reasons.

To filter our spammy, crappy candidates.

To filter in candidates who might be "underqualified" but have the balls to apply anyway.

In reality, it doesn't mean a ******* thing. If they call you up for the interview, if you blow their balls off in that interview room, you will get the job. You will even stand a better chance if you ARE green because they can bend you over and cut costs on salary.
