Looks like the NHL gets to keep 100% of its sponsorship money if 61 or more games are played.

64 game season

6 vs division

4 vs conference

Quote:
"According to a source with a good knowledge of the NHLís business workings, the league has a deal with its major sponsors that will pay it 100 percent of its money if the league plays a schedule of 61 or more games. If the schedule dips below 61 games, the league will receive only 75 percent of its sponsorship money. That percentage continues to decrease down to 50 percent if the league only plays a 41-game schedule."

So Game 7 of the Cup Finals is played on June 30th?

I mean, it has to be that late, right?

You really just compared a hockey club owner to an arsonist?

1995 the SCF ended on June 25th.. but that was because it was a sweep.

Ok so if they play 64 games, it just further goes to annoy me that they've been "lopping games off the schedule" this whole time and "canceling games" as a way to pressure a deal. We knew all along that if they were going to play a season, they'd have to redo the schedule anyway.

You can't expect Hockey players and to some extend angry fans to understand a simple business concept.

They think Bettman, JJ and Fehr are the ones responsible for this mess for christ sake.

He's obviously using an extreme.

The owner of a team that wins a Cup is just as responsible for the winning as the chairman of the board of governors is responsible for a lockout. Just my opinion...your welcome to yours...and Jesus Christ is welcome to his

I don't see how JJ can really be vilified for this. I think people are just looking for someone to focus their hate on

both sides are wrong, the issue is the players refusal to accept reality in regards to us all having to make sacrifices.

I mean damn, guaranteed contracts? Guys like Biznasty making what he does?

I think the players deserve hefty payments for what they do and the joy they bring millions of fans, but they need to wake up and smell the dow

and likewise, owners need to be held accountable for signing huge contracts they know they can't sustain - and that works both ways, guys like Snider offering what he did to steal Shea Weber away is just as detrimental to the league

If there is a season, and a 61 gamer at that, players and owners should thank their lucky stars they were able to make it work. Because this is a crucial time for the NHL to resume and pick up where it left off....the money is there if both sides stay patient. The lose the season and well...they lose money now and they lose money later.

There are good analogies that prove a point, and bad analogies that make no sense and are ridiculous.

You can use an extreme analogy, while simultaneously being a smartass. I'm sure of this. I do it often.

If the Kypreos thing is true it won't be long before some players start leaking news all over the place. Let's hope this is it!
