Exactly, spot on. There has been no good faith, and with increased social media since the last lockout, its clear as glass.

Considering the NHL wanted to start talks in January, that lowball offer would have been pretty damn good by June 1st.

Bettman literally said that the owners were about to walk out last night because they "felt insulted" at the players' response to their offer. It's nonsense to say that it's just business when every time these negotiations have broken down it has been about personal differences rather than financial ones.

Owners want a 5 year max for contracts (7 if it's your own guy) and a CBA with an opt out clause after 8 years...Problem with that is what?

It's because they went back, considered the NHLPA's offer at the time, conceded big time, dropping in areas by 100 million dollars.

They gave Fehr and the PA a Yes or No deal, not one he could dance around. And thats exactly what he did. They had enough times to go back and forth, NHL conceded a bit, and egos got in the way.

I think it is appropriate to quote this song right now for how this whole lockout has been.

Quote:
This is blood for blood
And by the gallons
These are the old days, the bad days
The all-or-nothing days - they're back
There's no choices left, and I'm ready for war
And I'm ready for war

Told Fehr was trying to get out ahead of the league. Did a good job. Won't lead to a season but hey small victory.

You know that how?

These things get broken down when somebody goes after something already decided non negotiable or already agreed upon.

At least that's been my experience, what's yours?

Listen i've never been a Bettman guy and think 3 lockouts under his tenure is inexcusable whether it's him or not. But i just can't see how the finger isnt at Fehr, the guy is so transparent and fake its pathetic. Everyone, including the TSN panel saw and knew his press conference was a total PR spin.

Absolutely spot on...Fehr tried to come in last minute and move the goalposts... You can hear it in Bettman's rage... Never thought he could get up that kind of emotion...

Was in a negotiation one time with an Asian Paper company... I worked out the deal for about a million dollars... I made the company some nice money, the vendor was happy with their take....my boss walks in...time to sign the contracts and says, "Hey, Finland is at X...." Well, they stood up , wished us luck and left. Turns out my bosses Finland deal was cost us an extra 150k...

Can't go backwards in these things and change things already agreed upon.

Back up, Russell.

I said: This is dumber than a soup sandwich on BOTH sides.

Do you start a negotiation of any kind and lay your balls out on the table? No. Of course they started out low-balling them. That's what negotiating is for. That's business, period.
