I would lol if he was actually right and his source was Jacobs.

I'm a skeptic by nature, so it'll be interesting if it turns out Burton was right. He used sources that were correct before about a couple other hockey/Bruins related things in the past.

He led the sports report with it too. If he wasn't certain, I would think it would have been an afterthought towards the end of the report.

He wouldn't risk his credibility if he didn't have anything solid so this is interesting.

As Butterbean just said on Twitter, he broke the story on Phil Kessel's cancer.

I don't want to get my hopes up. Nov 2nd was the last time I did.

I would love for it to be true. I may even cry. I watched clips of the line brawls w/Dallas and Montreal last night. And it sucked.

I miss our boys so badly.

Basketball/baseball lawyers can't agree, football guy says a deal is close. Up next in hockey news, golf guy says no deal.

it's really reported Burton certainly did go on the air with this wow....I can see the Patriots, Red Sox, even the Celtics....but Bruins (although he gets the nod for somehow having the Kessel cancer news first as weird as that is)

For all the people running down Burton - nobody gets out alive on the Internets btw - I would not be so quick to blow off his scoop without at least allowing for a "maybe." Think of him what you will but he's a veteran and it's not like this is Eklund making ***** up. We shall see, let's be hopeful and allow ourselves to be heartbroken!

He and his ex-wife, Susan Wornick just co-mc'd an event last month. I'm surprised they were cordial to each other.

Others had it. Were asked not to report it. Burton ignored it. Kessel family was pissed.

Burton did work with the Bruins with WSBK, he probably has connections to older brass

Burton is one of the most respected guys out there, and well deserved. But I can't fathom this being true.

Hopefully, this isn't the same source who used to give Murph his trade rumors.....

Sounds like someone spilled the beans to Burton, now when everyone is asked about it, they say they haven't heard anything. This is too weird that he would break this story.

It's an interesting coincidence isn't it that Boston owner Jacobs is getting absolutely pummeled about the lockout in the North American media the past couple weeks and all of a sudden a Boston guy is coming out of the blue with some big news that will make fans happy. Just sayin'. And I mean don't mean this to discredit the rumor from Burton, more to suggest why I would not be so quick to dismiss it.

Even if his source is Jacobs himself, how could this be verified before the owners/players meeting? Unless Jacobs plans to go in and say "whatever you say, boys."
