As an Everton fan, I sure hope we can beat City today, we need something to jump start our season, get the lads playing with a little more confidence. We do okay as far as possession and chances created but waste too many opportunities and make too many mistakes at the back.
It also doesn't help that we have very little good fortune so far this season. We've had a couple of big calls go in our favour but about 10 times as many go against us. Whether it is good goals being ruled out, stone wall penalties not being given (we could have had almost 10 this year but have gotten 1 so far), opponents not having players sent off when they clearly should be, Pienaar being sent off for an opponent kicking him and falling over, Norwich getting a free kick and scoring when their player tried to kick the ball - missed - and fell over, shots deflecting off our own players and into our net, very little is going in our favour this year.
Add in injuries/illness to key players and useful depth players and it looks as if City will get at least a point from today. Hopefully though, Everton catch a break somewhere along the line. I don't want the ref to screw anyone over making awful calls but if the officials could just accurately call even half of what happens on the pitch, it would have made a HUGE difference to our season so far, to the point where we would be around Chelsea in the table, maybe even above them.
Here's to a good game. Everton-City games have mostly been good recently (at least from my perspective) so hopefully this is another to add to the list. If we are to lose today, I at least want to see a proper bout between Moyes and Mancini
