Were you panicking 7 years ago?

So, they're about to drop the puck. There's space on the bench, and a couple of stragglers come out late from the locker room.

Fans are panicking/worried in SJ as they watch the game start. Nine losses in a row.

Checking out online forums, refreshing Sharks' site and other NHL news locations trying to figure out what was going on.

Three guys in warm ups aren't dressed, and the two guys who thought they'd be working out or in the press box are instead getting dressed and out to the bench.

Marco Sturm
Brad Stuart
Wayne Primeau

What was up?

Middle of the first period we found out: Joe Thornton had been acquired by the Sharks from Boston for three players.

(Side note -- Douglas Murray was recalled from Worcester and joined the team in Buffalo the next day to make his NHL debut.)

And I was packing as I was watching. I flew to Buffalo the next day to watch the Sharks against the Sabres (the only game they've won on the road against Buffalo) and in Toronto the following day.

no, I had heard through the rumor mill that Big Joe was involved so I just hoped the trade was for him and not any additional "unnamed" players, regardless of how ridiculous it was at the time.

However, I was disappointed that Marco was part of the trade as he was my fav player at the time.

Before I opened this thread, I thought it was going to be about the lockout.

I have to say that I was a bit. I thought we were going to get worse. Glad I was proved to be way, way, way wrong.

I was at work and was missing the game. I had a moment to open the box score in between patrons when I saw the headline.

I scared some people around me with my outburst

I was a bit worried, I hated losing Sturm. It quickly became excitement after it became clear that we landed someone that we could actually consider a "star player" though.

panic.... NFW. Something needed to happen to the team. We were not that great and i was thrilled to give up who we did to get Joe. I always believe that in trades the winning team is the one that gets the net best player(s) in the deal and we got Jumbo...

Didn't the trade crash HF? Pretty sure it did.

When I heard all three of those players were scratched, I went to Spector's site (which looked like a Geocities site at the time) and read about the trade.

I remember being really sad that Sturm was shipped out, but i was very optimistic about getting Jumbo.

My alcoholic dad and my rage-prone older brother are Bruins fans so yes, I was panicking.
