Haydar is pathetic, can't even lift the puck on an amazing chance anymore. The most frustrating (and worthless) player on the Wolves.

Also, Longpre looks really good on the wing so far and really fits with Schroeder. Better than Sweatt has been in a while.

Sterling - Ebbett - Kassian
Longpre - Schroeder - Haydar
Archibald - Friesen - Gordon
Davies - Schneider - Miller

Not sure about defense exactly, I'll update when I get a firm look.

Schroeder and Longpre had assists on that goal, since I didn't specify. Very good play by those two.

The top two lines right now are working pretty well. The bottom 2 are pretty pathetic though. As much as Longpre fits in on that 2nd line, better than Sweatt even, it means that Friesen is on the 3rd line and that's been pretty bad so far (defensively anyway).

Injuries starting mount on this team - lineup is beginning to become a bit of a hodge podge.

Haydar must like morning games because he is looking like a dangerous player. Whole line was good although I agree I'd keep Longpre at center . Friesen is not really an option on the third line.

Chicago is not a good job clogging up the slot and blocking shot - increasingly liking the play of Joslin - also seemingly increasing the range of his play

Really disppointed Friesen isn't off to a better start. I had high hopes for him.

I see none of the smarts that Friesen was praised for in junior. Consistently takes the wrong position on his man and is behind the play. Just failed to clear the zone twice resulting in quite a bit of pressure by the Heat. Also, while he's happy to initiate physical contact himself, he'll often take a roundabout route to the puck so he can avoid getting hit himself and then of course proceeds to give it up because he's there too late.

This is why I tend to be wary about "coaches player" in the CHL. Yeah, they'll work hard and earn their points, but how much upside is there?

JC Lipon is another player I'm worried about. Hardworker, which is where he gets his points, but will that same level of hard work translate into the NHL with his skill? I'm doubtful.

Friesen can't compete at this level at all. Too slow in every category - hands, positioning, feet. Loses faceoffs all the time. He is plainly in over his head and has IMO zero upside. Thought this since I saw him in Penticton tournament

Climie is playing lights out. some outstanding saves. He has to be a consideration for an NHL trail.

Schneider looks way better than Friesen a will hopefully take his position when others get back. He is good defensively and is somehow outstanding of the PK. Saw that in Manitoba were the PK was just outstanding

Centers with everyone back

Ebbett
Schneider
Longpre
Schneider

Kassian is having a very lazy, unfocused effort . Hopefully can wake up in the third.

Liked the play of Andersson. Positioned well and making the game easy on himself. Seems to read the play very well and creates good angles for passes and moves things quickly

Continue to really like the play of Joslin. He is doing a lot of heavy work in his own covering up for the mistakes of others. Right now he is better than Connauton

Seems like another year of junior would have been better, both for confidence and skill development.

I'm hoping he somehow ends up in the QMJHL to finish the season, I don't imagine a goal less season is helping him right now.

Yeah, wasn't the brightest idea. The guy could've used one more year of playing on the top line. He only had 1 year in the Q playing on a scoring line. Was better than Friesen but 4th line wasn't good for his development and now down in Kalamazoo he's not on a scoring line either.

I can't contribute the same way as anyone who actually watched the game, but Kassian put eight shots on net. I know he's been inconsistent, but it's something.
