The officiating was awful, but the US outplayed the Czech's badly. Jaskin had a couple of nice hits, but was pretty quiet like the rest of the Czech's for most of the game. He nailed Seth Jones in the corner pretty well. Too bad Jones made a great pass up the boards that led to a breakaway goal on that same play lol.
Niklas Lundström and the Swedes beat the Russians in a 3-2 shootout. Will face USA for gold.
Yep. Lundstrom once again didn't allow a goal in the shootout stopping 3 very good Russian forwards in Grigerenko, Yakupov and Kucherov.
Good luck to Lundstrom! It's a real testament to that team that they've gotten this far with their top 3 d-men being injured for the entire tournament - Brodin, Klefbom and Lindholm.
Too bad Canada didn't win and realized Binnington should be in net.
Blue vs Blue goaltenders in the finals.
Yeah I think it definitely could have been a closer game with Binnington in net the whole sixty for Canada. Surely he'll get the start against Russia Saturday.

Indeed, Lundström looked really confident in that shootout too. Loved the way he celebrated after each save. With good goaltending and strong skaters on both sides...it should make for a very exciting championship final.

Jaskin scored a goal in today's 4-3 win against Switzerland. He finished the tournament as the Czech's leading scorer with 3+3 6PT +3 in 6gp. He also was named player of the game twice. Lindbohm added an assist today in Finland's 11-4 win over the Slovaks. Lindbohm finished with 2 assists in the tournament, a player of the game honors, and his +8 is currently ranked 2nd overall.
Goalies are literally meaningless until they play significant minutes for an NHL team in the Stanley Cup playoffs. It's cool and all to watch a Blues prospect goalie, but it's more like cool trivia than anything real, regardless of whether they perform well or poorly in any event that isn't the Stanley Cup hockey playoffs.
