The NHL wasn't going to accept the NHLPA's proposal as is. The PA doesn't accept the NHL's proposal as is. It doesn't work that way. The NHL wants 5 and 7. The PA PROPOSED 8 years. They can't find a compromise there?
Enough is enough. The dog and pony show went on for months and it's too late in the game to be playing chess matches on trying to see who blinks. It's December 6th already. Get a God damn deal done.
I dislike the man, but please for the of God, let Dolan in the meetings!!
I'm beginning to think that Dolan is the only owner who wants to play.
He doesn't care how the sides settle. He'll just adjust his P&L and raise tix prices to offset any shortfall in profits.

Are you sure that's the issue?

true, the immediate rejection was bad form though. no matter how pissed they might have been, keeping it in their pants and coming back the next day and saying "****'s not gonna fly, we need to keep working" would have been the adult thing to do
I've spent a combine 7 minutes following anything hockey related since this garbage began. The only thing worthwhile is hearing all these now retired 1995 and 2004 lockout jagoffs go public with their weekly "the players should take the offer" BS.
Soft, fruitiness of the highest order. Solidarity one minute, appeasement the next.
Prepping for future FO jobs while stabbing their "brothers" in the back.
I'm listening, not watching. I don't want to see that frail man stand at the podium.
Bettman and owners just don't get it. They expect the players to make every concession. They don't understand when players will only agree to certain concessions and not all. It's their way or the highway and that's wrong. There is not much compromise.
Is Bettman clueless? He really expected a yes or no? I've had a lot more respect for him than most people on the board. Now he's just coming across as an idiot.

Bettman doing is best act to make himself look like the good guys to the press and union by saying he disagreed with owners requests to remove the make whole program.
stevezipay: Daly: We walked away from free agency, entry level, arbitration. Term limit of deal, limit of player contract important..
They do have a point.
They didn't make a single concession on those things though. It just remains the same. On the other hand I don't understand why the NHLPA even wants a shorter CBA.
Well I hope all the owners will be happy to lose a season and all that entails because they can't be assed to actually negotiate and instead throw fits like little babies
