Jones to the Avs is as close to a lock as any pick in recent draft memory.

How sick would it be to see Halifax vs. Portland in the Memorial Cup?
Jones
Mackinnon
Drouin

There's no way Colorado doesn't pick Jones...Well, there is, technically, but it wouldn't be the right decision.

The panthers don't play in Montreal. They couldn't care less about a French connection.

Having two elite french players could be an attractive thing for a fanbase who is built largely around an older group of people that only spend their winters in Florida. Attracting snowbirds from Quebec could help fill their building. It's just another little piece of the puzzle that could play into things.

The Quebec snowbirds only show up when Montreal is in town. The panthers fanbase is made out of local floridians.

The panthers may surprise everyone and draft drouin, but his nationality has nothing to do with it

It just makes since for need and maybe BPA to take Mac over Drouin.

I'll be happy with either one, leaning towards Nathan just due to his NHL readiness and him being a center.

Unless Tallon gets kidnapped and Yormark takes over, I doubt they consider who would bring in the northern fans.

Fans of opposing teams are going to show up, especially considering the teams that will be in the new division next year. I seriously doubt that Tallon would draft anyone because of the impact it will have on ticket sales

Our need for a number-one center is greater than a potential French-connection.

Mac is destined to come to the Florida and pair up with Huberdeau. I hope.

I agree with you 100%, was just pointing out that it's not as cut and dried as people seem to think.

Avs tough choice

I think Jones is the right choice for the Avalanche. They don't need Mckinnon as they have plenty of centers... if they do take Mckinnon then management is holding a grudge on O'Riley... just dumb

Drouin is exciting and would be a major boost to the Avs, as they need goal scoring wingers bad. Having a power forward like Landeskog and a shifty skill player like Drouin would be awesome, they would create an amazing top 6.

But that's what Edmonton has done, they have to one on the back end. Avs, should go with Jones and have two waives of attack.

Just bet my girlfriends dad 100 bucks that MacKinnon will be in the NHL come October.

Am I 100 dollars richer?

Alright, for those that have seen the Mooseheads, assuming the game ends in a win for Halifax, who wins the MVP for the playoffs? I've heard from almost everyone that MacKinnon has been the better player, but Drouin has more points and, dare I say it (I'm French Canadian FYI), is French Canadian. What say you?

Neither. I think it should go to Fucale, and i'm 95% sure it will.

If by chance Fucale doesn't get it, I think it'll be Drouin.... although if I had to choose a forward, i'd like to see Fournier get it.

Still think it should have been Fucale... but it's completely understandable that it's Drouin.

This moment doesn't even feel real, Moose Country has been waiting a while for this to happen and it's finally here!!!!

I think it should have been Fucale because it was honestly too difficult for me to choose between Drouin and MacKinnon "overall". Had top-3 QMJHL goalie statistics in the regular season, and yet posted even better numbers against 4 rounds of playoff opponents. Downtown must be awesome right now. Too bad I have to work in the morning.

How Good Is MacKinnon, What is his upside?

Looking to take him 1st overall in a rookie draft, and was just wondering how good the kid really is. What is the range of his point potential? What will an average year look like? What will a career year look like?

Thanks in advance.

There`s many threads on in, however it`s tough to say.

I`ve watched him for a while now and it`s hard to put a limit to his upside. He could be the fastest skater in the league (Taylor Hall or Grabner, maybe) but I think his puck skills and shot are superb to anyone with those kind of wheels.

I`d say he has 100 pt potential in the future, to be honest.

Absolutely, that type of leadership too.

MacKinnon is by far the best offensive prospect in the draft. It would be sick to see Huberdeau and MacKinnon play on the same line one day but I don't know if he's the type of player Florida wants.

Anyway, he can seriously be a huge factor in the NHL putting up high points and being an elite player.
