I'm guessing, they aired it last year. Besides, what else is there to broadcast when there's a lockout? (assuming there still is one when the WJC rolls around)

Much nicer schedule for the Russians than Canada, but it's understandable. The back-to-back games against US and then Russia will be interesting.

Anyway, this thread is a parade of arrogance.
And yeah, afraid to shock you, but these will be the times for Olympics. Prime time in Russia (7PM) is 10AM in East coast.
I'm okay with that.

Wait.. Canada is playing USA AND RUSSIA in the round robin?

WJC are ok... I don't wet myself over them like tsn wants me to though.. if a decent game is on I'll watch.

How does any of that constitute TSN sucking?

I'll be waking up at 3AM to watch the games. The World Juniors is by far my favourite hockey of the year. I may sleep in on the days that Canada isn't playing and watch Finland and other teams play on repeat later in the day though... getting up that early everyday isn't something that I can see myself doing for too many days in a row.

I like having the ridiculous start time every 3 or so years, it just feels more traditional.

The one game I'm surprised is the early one though is Canada vs USA at 4am EST (so like 3pm local?) and Germany vs Slovakia for the prime time game. Seems strange especially because it is one of the last games so Slovakia and Germany will probably both already be relegated by then (I'm assuming USA won't suck again).

I'm seeing commercials on TSN with their "stay up late/wake up early" campaign to try to get the casual fan on board for this year.

That's the dumbest thing I've read today. You sound like such a hipster. If you're truly a fan of the tournament you'd be happy that it gets the support it does, whether it's bandwagoners or not, it's awesome for the players involved.

The timing sucks. I'm sure I'm not the only one stuck in the situation where the game is on at 4:30am then you have to start getting ready for work at 8am.

I might catch replays for round robin games, but at the very least I will take the early wake-up/late night for the gold medal game.

Yes, I am a "post-school person". I have a job and often work 12 hour days. I suppose that makes me a "WJC poser" because I work and make money to support myself and my loved ones.

Sorry to offend your precious sensibilities.

Don't see what the problem is here. This isn't any different than normal when the tournament is not held in Canada.

... how would they be relegated before even playing in the relegation round? They probably get primetime because Slovakia and Germany are both closer to Russia than Canada and the U.S. are.

I can't see Slovakia getting relegated either. They should have one of the best teams at the tournament this year.

That's the best part of being on holiday during the tournament: I can adjust my sleep schedule on an as-needed basis, so I can either a.) start going to bed sooner, or b.) sleep in the middle of the day, and I'll still have time after the tournament to get everything back on track.

If all goes well, I shouldn't miss too much action...

Let's not forget that this is the case for European fans almost every year. I know that most WJC fans live in Canada, but it's an international tournament, not "North American Junior Championship".

Didnt realize Sochi was that far off central europe. I thought the times in 2014 would be more friendly that the **** in Vancouver 2010 (no offense), but 5 hours is still a lot.

Also already makes me dread the 2014 world cup in brazil, the last 2 WCs I could comfortably watch 3 games a day, now being out of school and having to deal with bad start times for CET, these times seem to be over
