The way they explained it there, I have to feel somewhat sorry for Belcher. He had to be going something really bad mentally, but it might just be me watching way too many Criminal Minds episodes about psychotic breaks.

I haven't really been following NCAA very closely this year outside of Notre Dame, who is expected to go in a top-5 kind of range in the draft. From what I've read Te'o is a top 15 pick but that's all I know

There are very few things in this world that would enable me to have sympathy for a murderer. Belcher doesn't qualify. There is nothing I read about the incident to deter my belief that he was a terrible human being.

Belcher looks worse and worse with every detail that comes out. I do feel sorry that he felt driven to suicide, but everyone has a choice, and he made the wrong one.

Need some help this weekend. Who should I start for my flex:

Sidney Rice vs. Arizona
Anquan Boldin vs. Washington
Dwayne Bowe vs. Cleveland

Rice has been the most consistent but he is coming off a head injury and Arizona has a pretty good defense. Boldin and Bowe are both up against poor pass defenses but Bowe has Brady Quinn throwing to him and Boldin caught his first touchdown pass last week since Week 1.

Appreciate the help.

Boldin is pretty talented, and the Redskins have one of the worst pass defenses in the entire NFL. I'd go with him.

Thanks guys. I was leaning toward Rice because of his ability to find the endzone but it's a pretty boom/bust pick since he doesn't usually put up a lot of yardage. Boldin is good but I'm a bit wary because he hasn't been putting up the stats this year. He has one 100 yard game (Week 4) and 2 touchdowns (Week 1, last week). I don't think I can trust Bowe with the Chiefs QB situation so it's probably between those two.

Watched the Football Life show on Barry Sanders on the NFL Network. I forgot how great he really was. Crazy how far he could have extended the all-time rushing record had the Lions not tried to rebuild during his prime years and killed his passion for the game. Has to be one of the humblest professional athletes I have ever seen.

I was young when Sanders played but I remember being in awe watching him.

Got into an argument a few years ago with someone. I said Sanders is the best RB ever. Kid responded with "Jim Brown is the best ever. Sanders can't be the best ever if he only played 9 years."

I stopped arguing right there and told the kid to go look of Jim Browns season log.

I remember being in awe of him as well. I was young when he was playing, but specifically remember him tearing up those awful Bears teams.

I forget who said it in the show, but they said a guy like Jim Brown would not do the damage in this era as he did in his own era. I completely agree. But you put a guy like Sanders in any era, and he dominates. Like Payton. IMO it goes Sanders and then Payton. Then probably Brown. Then there is a far gap between them to guys like Emmitt Smith. Sanders would have probably hit 20,000 yards had he continued.

Would you put LT up there with Emmitt Smith in that second tier? I'm not too well-versed on football history

Not to mention NFL has a system set up in which players can call a number and the league arranges for a cab to pick them up

That's very sad. DWI is a huge problem in the NFL. And whatever the cause, there are too many players dying young.

"Canadian rock group Nickleback’s front man, Chad Kroeger, was arrested for DUI in British Columbia in June 2006, according to the Canadian Press. Kroeger was pulled over for “excessive speeding and erratic driving,” while in his $175,000 Lamborghini. After the arrest, Kroeger’s main concern was how his car was to be transported home. The officers allowed him to make arrangements and stay with the car until he was sure it would make it safely back to his house."

Exactly. It's a free service and yet none of these players use it. Hell if I could get a free ride home from my boss after hitting up the bars for the night I would abuse that system.
