Rome is one of the greatest shows ever. Season 1 anyway

I actually like Season 2 a lot as well. Octavian was so conniving and machiavellian it was great to watch. I love that Brutus is going to be in Game of Thrones now.

If only they could add Cicero, Pullo and Vorenus.

Semantics. Same thing, they are similar shows.

The last half of Season 2 feels rushed, once they knew they were cancelled they tried to cram way too much in. It's still good but compared to Season 1 they aren't close.

Oh agreed completely but rushed Season 2 is still better than most shows. Gah they cancel everything good.

Game of Thrones is the best thing on TV and Spartacus...well Spartacus is a bunch of 300 style slow motion oiled up beefcakes making already painful dialogue even worse by inexplicably leaving words out of sentences every now and then.

Though from the latest episode I saw I suppose it's the only place in history depicting Julius Caesar as a musclebound blonde bearded kung fu master, so it has that going for it.
I wasn't really trying to compare the two shows. But everyone that I know that likes Game of Thrones also likes Spartacus. So really, I was just suggesting that he might enjoy watching Spartacus while waiting for his weekly installments of GoT.

Spartacus starts out as a 300 clone but it actually gets very good midway into the season. I enjoyed the prequel more. Haven't seen the last two yet. But it's not even lose to being on the same level. More of a popcorn flick.

Spartacus is a very good show. The political schemings are entirely on the same level as GoT.

Not quite as good now, without Batiatus. But I'm beginning to like Crassus

Just re-watched all of season 2 on demand. S2E9 has to be the best episode, Stannis is such a badass

I didn't like the actor they brought in for Octavian in season 2.

Question about "Rome".

I haven't seen it, but it looks good.

I'd consider getting it on DVD, but I have to ask...is it worth it?
Does it have an actual "ending", or did they just cancel it in the middle of the storyline? The eternal cliffhanger...

The ending is rushed, but they do essentially end the series. I was personally satisfied with how they ended it. Even so, the majority of the show is good enough that a rushed ending shouldn't make it any less enjoyable.

Bah, I keep getting excited to see new posts here, only to be let down by everyone talking about other shows.

I think Rome is amazing, I'm still furious they cancelled it. It is completely worth it, and there is an ending - it sucked they rushed through the end and we missed out on seasons 3 and 4 (the high points were rolled into season 2). I'm a big fan of the Cleopatra actress, they needed more of her in Rome.

Wish I had more to contribute to the Game of Thrones discussion but the new trailers, omg amazeballs. I read all 5 books in the past two months, this new season is going to be crazy. I'm trying to push anyone I know who doesn't watch it to catch up on the first two seasons in time for the third.
